Bored ape yacht club I think it was called. I've never understood something less in my life.
But, baw, some of them WERE RARE!!!! Never mind the fact they could make an infinite number of them and none of them had any value whatsoever to start

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the same thing that goes with the memecoin bullshite? The whole "this has value because we say it does, so get in now before it really takes off!" schtick?
Same thing.
Crypto in general, has this issue. I consider NFTs in the crypto-sphere.

I don't think I'm a brilliant person by any means and this NFT shite always sounded absolutely absurd to me. How did people invest tons of money into this crap?
I'm not sure how anyone bought into this. Still baffled. I know some otherwise very smart guys who spent thousands on some random NFTs online.

And that was an actual asset more akin to trading cards. The market just disappeared, unlike for trading cards. There were unique and rare ones, quality/condition mattered, etc. You could hold it in your hand and someone taking a screenshot of it doesn't have essentially the exact same fricking thing.

I would argue that beanie babies and even pet rocks are more valuable than NFTs. They are actual things you can hold in your hand, unlike a bundle of 1s and zeroes.

It was definitely an interesting learning experience on how to operate and make deals. A whole different world.

Can you imagine how much better/crazier the auto created nft's could be today, just a few years later because of the AI image generation? Crazy.

I always thought NFT's were a way to launder money while in person art auctions weren't available because of Covid.

I screenshot a bunch of cool NFT's for free

Didn't they even sell the first YouTube video ("Charlie bit my finger") as a NFT?
Posted on 3/3/26 at 4:53 am to Scruffy
I honestly don't get it. What is the point of an NFT? I know it has something to do with the blockchain ,but other than that I still don't understand what the point is.

That wasn't anywhere near the first video on YouTube.

NFT era?
Isn’t that National Fine Thread era. A time when nothing vibrated loose?

I sold an unopened NFT pack of Prizm basketball on the Panini platform in October for 10k.
Cashed out immediately and bought an all inclusive trip to the Riviera Maya we just returned from and had 5k left over.
Whether NFTs are money laundering or not I don’t care. 10k is 10k
