Starting age in GA has been six for a long time. Definitely was the case ten years ago.

Yet this same state will let a kid the same age get puberty blockers and other "gender affirming" care.

This is a fair counter, but obviously those of us with brains know this is abhorrent.

Same, but there are 1st grade leagues now. I know people with kids in them. The kids look fricking ridiculous with helmets on

Same out here in CA, our town has a tackle league at 6, which is ridiculous. I didn't start tackle until I was in 5th grade.

Start them on ultimate frisbee (insane workout) or flag football.

You’ve never seen 10-12 year olds playing flag football. It’s just as brutal as tackle with pads.

California is the worst but there's nothing wrong with this.

We didn't start playing tackle until I was in 6th grade. 12 is a pretty normal age to start playing tackle.

They have 7th grade teams and 8th grade teams…and hardly enough players to make a roster. My son never played flag or peewee, but at that level it’s pretty easy to pick up.

He played QB and made it all of 4 games before separating his AC joint and breaking the growth plate in his upper arm. That was because the refs suck and they were tackling him out of bounds repeatedly. Still played QB in 8th, they just didn’t run him anymore.

People are going to clown this because “libs” and “Cali sucks” etc etc but this is the correct move and honestly the NFL should push this agenda to all states.

Kids at that young of an age do not need to tackle each other. They can learn more about the game from playing flag and understanding basic fundamentals. Plus, it keeps dipshit POS coaches away who harm these kids because they only care about their past glory.

The NFL should have a bottom up referee system that trains and promotes the best. They should be coaches out on the field, because real coaches will always push the rules to win…unfortunately. Teach kids what holding is, team them what pass interference is…hold the coach accountable for his players breaking rules. Don’t glorify plays that were poor form at best…and against the defined rules at worst.

It is, but this is also the same state that would allow kids under 12 to change their gender without their parents being involved so....

That's dumb. Kids are basically made out of rubber and aren't strong or fast enough to really hurt themselves anyway. Football doesn't start getting dangerous till puberty.

or until they play some oversized kid who went through puberty at age 10

It’s actually not a bad idea except for the fact that it shouldn’t be regulated by the government. Kids can learn skills without tackling. My boys went through tackle football from 3rd grade til 12th grade and I wouldn’t have any problem with them not tackling until 12.
