Very much a real possibility. Or even purifying it and selling it as sea salt. But lord knows California doesn’t want a company to profit. Only government can do that.

I'm sure that Pelosi, Gavin and Joe will save them.

They just cancelled a project over concern for plankton in the area of the plant. I think that was the reason they gave anyway.

Ok cool. But that water is now 3-4x the salinity, potentially much more. Yes initially the ocean will dilute it but over time the area will become even too saline for the aquatic life that currently resides there.

So you build a long arse pipeline out into deeper, open waters, send the concentrated slurry out there where it has less impact and will dilute easier, using seawater to aid in the movement, and voila

It’s too bad the water doesn’t have any current that would disperse the higher salt into the bulk water of the largest ocean in the world

2/3s of the nations produce is grown in California. This will have an impact outside of state lines.

Had to get that statement in.

So, when it rains more next year than this year, will it still be considered "climate change"?

That’s amazing that California grows that much of our nations produce.

Driving down the 5, it’s all you can see. Produce in about 6 months is gonna be pricey.

Does sea salt not have value? Serious question.

Can it not be placed in the Salton Sea?

The brine not be placed in the desert?

I get that these aren’t cheap, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Yeah but where do you put all the salt? It’s extremely concentrated and could screw up the area where it’s disposed

Sell it to the company that makes Dale's

The news here says that it’s not feasible because it can’t produce enough water. The size of the plant needed to satisfy the needs of LA would be miles of coastline. Farming here uses an amazing amount of water. Mediterranean climate but no fresh water source.

It's not fun to fix your own problem. They have had droughts for decades now, and aren't doing anything to solve it. This is fully on them. They can fix it, but they won't.

How? The best scientific minds are working on it. At the end of the day it was a poor decision to have our nations food source be built with out water. Add to that too many people living in an area that cannot naturally support their existence. There is no solution that you speak of.

For what? You alleviate some of the pressure and that helps.
Maybe if you shipped the homeless out to sea it would help.

And maybe you can stack the bums up in the French quarter to raise it above sea level?

I’m not defending California. But it’s a problem that will affect the entire country.
