Exactly, these fricking historical "records" are fricking guesses and wildly varied interpretations.
One thing about science is it is always evolving and progressing which constantly changes what was the previous outcome.
The other thing about science it's only as good as the person interpreting the data and their biases.

As the great Eddie Bravo said:
"How the hell does California have a no water? The entire state borders the Pacific Ocean."

Christ, every time we have an extreme weather event we hear this nonsense. The idiots pushing this nonsense in a sane society would be deemed heretics and burned at the stake.

1200 years? Are they sure, I heard the drought of 1347 in California was pretty bad. I remember hearing stories from the elders.

I bet Wacky Joe gives Plastic Nancy whatever money she needs to combat this problem that came out of nowhere.

Yeah but where do you put all the salt? It’s extremely concentrated and could screw up the area where it’s disposed
Eta, deep water brine disposal in Australia is creating dead zones

Would really be interested in seeing the data collected by scientists in the 1000s and 1100s.
Actually now that I think about it the data from the 900s is most relevant given that that was the decade with worst drought since this century.

In all honesty, who the frick was measuring rainfall accurately 1200 years ago??
The worst drought in 1000 years probably means that statistically a drought of that magnitude has a 1 in 1,000 chance of occurring in any given year.

So not the worst drought in 1,000 but a 1,000 year drought

Ah California. The land of nuts and fruits.

Half of Cali is illegal aliens sucking off that hose over there. No wonder they are running short on water living is a desert.

Only reason democratic voters would care about this is that it is possible to control people with water. As for as people and plants dieing from lack of water, there isn't one of them that would give a crap.

Maybe back in the ocean full of salt water

Ok cool. But that water is now 3-4x the salinity, potentially much more. Yes initially the ocean will dilute it but over time the area will become even too saline for the aquatic life that currently resides there.
Now if they were talking mechanical vapor compression or some other form of zero liquid discharge technology, that’s a completely different story.

What about trucking the salt to the desert?
