Cadillac is launching a subscription service that will allow customers to drive and swap out whatever vehicle they want — be it an Escalade or a CTS-V — whenever they want, for a flat monthly fee. Book by Cadillac is a $1,500-a-month contract-free service that the manufacturer says will eliminate the hassle that comes with owning a vehicle. The service will grant users access to an app which will let you request to swap between current year Cadlillacs including the XT5, CT6, Escalade, and V Series at will, without having to pay extra for registration, insurance, or maintenance, all of which are included in the monthly fee. Subscribers can swap cars up to 18 times per year, as often once per day. Reservations for next-day swaps must be made by 3PM.

The monthly fee is steep, but Cadillac argues it's competitive with the cost of leasing a well-equipped luxury car. It also includes maintenance, taxes, and insurance fees. The Book service can also be stopped at any time, which frees users from any payments. There's no restrictions on mileage, though users pay for gas either by filling up the car when they're done with it or through a Caddy concierge who bills their account

This deal is too good to pass up.

Can I get a '71 DeVille or El Dorado?

Can't you do the same thing at Enterprise for cheaper?

This actually sounds pretty cool. I really like the CT6 and the CTS-V.

No but it comes with white glove concierge. They will deliver the next vehicle to you at any location. Test market is in New York so prices may lower in other states.

frick, how am I supposed to stalk my soon-to-be girlfriend if I can't know what car she's driving from day to day.

So $18,000 per year to drive a used car

I imagine they are excluding those 600 horsepower V series sports sedans. Imagine having one knowing that you'll trade in a month.
Still could be very cool.

It starts in New York. They are expecting to roll out the service in other states so I expect prices to be lower.

You can buy one and drive it home from the dealer. It will be a used car by the time you get it home.

If you did it for 12 months consecutively, yes...

I think it would be fun to do at least for a little while.

That's a really good price! Does it include the CIEL and Elmiraj models?
Also if you bought a $75k car every year the sales tax on the car in Louisiana would be $7825 per year or $8250 in Orleans Parish.

V series sports are included. You can keep the car as long as you want. Cancel anytime. No contracts. It may be pricey but I would expect other divisions of GM to follow. Would you sign up for a subscription service like this with Chevrolet for $900?

Would you have to carry individual insurance?
For a single car household it wouldn't be that much of a jump in monthly expenses if you get to drop insurance payments in lieu of this service
I'm comparing costs for a household in the market for luxury cars that is...
