They're going to start euthanizing people.
Well, we could use fewer Californians

Yeah totally
Nah, mental illness is far more prevalent in Democrats. It you that needs to be concerned.
quote:
The study, which examined white liberals, moderates, and conservatives, both male and female, found that conservatives were far less likely to be diagnosed with mental health issues than those who identified as either liberal or even “very liberal.”
Young white women suffered the worst.
Progressivism is literally a mental disorder.

There is a special kind of mental illness that exists with many of the homeless I encounter, psychosis and such, whether mental or drug induced. They appear to be a danger to everyone that passes and I don’t think those unfortunate folks are the type to willingly seek mental help and pull themselves up. There were surely a lot less tramps and bums back in the good ole days when they just dropped the psychotic types off at looney bin instead the local jail or soup kitchen for a night.

This is a good thing IN THEORY.
I think there are a lot of people out there that severely need help. We have failed the mentally ill since the 80s, and we are facing those consequences.
Something has to be done.
I do obviously worry about the abuse, and a lot of checks and balances need to be in place.

I think it is interesting that when reopening asylums to combat these types of issues gets mentioned here they get a better than 10 to 1 upvote ratio but when a state actually takes a step in that direction people pull back very quickly.

Was coming to say the same thing.

They're going to broaden the scope of mental illness to include political dissenters (read: Republican voters).

Drug induced. Its sad.
They used to call them burnouts in the 60s.

It'll probably get abused, and I'm super uncomfortable with it; however, something does need to be done with the bums, homeless addicts, ect ect that just permeate our cities.

I'm curious how much more tax revenue this grand plan will require.

Don't you people pretend (at least) to be anti authoritarian?

I'm about as anti-authoritatian as it gets Roggie.
Just because I point out flaws in logic doesn't mean I support the opposite position. You'd think by this point you'd have kind of figured that out. Hope springs eternal I suppose.

Maybe they will put them all in one place. They could call it camp.
And they could concentrate on their problems.

we sure do have a lot of posters who hate this place yet hang around regardless.

How come reopening asylums get almost universal support here? Did people not really consider this when it was mentioned in the past?

If you are a climate change denier, you obviously have an untreated mental illness and you need to visit the funny farm.

I honestly can’t think of a single issue where this happens more than “mental health”
So many people simultaneously acknowledge that mental healthcare is a complete joke in this country while being vehemently against just about any proposal to address the issue.
