A C130 can carry paks or cargo but not a tank. First an M1 Abrams won't actually fit in the door. Secondly a c130 can carry a little over 70,000 lbs....an Abrams tips the scale at about 120,000 lbs.
I believe a C130 can carry a Stryker, albeit one that has been partially disassembled to make it fit.

M1A2s actually go about 72 tons or 144,000.

My first thought was somebody knew a decision would be leaked today and here comes the backup for the BRPD.

Jesus that's heavy. Crazy that it is mobile and also that it can be loaded up in a plane (assuming one of those larger ones?).

Worked with a guy who was in Panama. He said it was worse than what he saw in Nam.

Probably more to do with some disaster response exercises about to kick off but let's see what the foil hatters come up with...

8 seems like a lot, but used to watch them regularly come in 4 or 5 at a time when I worked right there. Was pretty cool because our tallest vessel looked right down the runway.

C130 Troop Transports

It was actually only 2 doing circles or touch and goes. Had a clear view of them doing this for about 45 mins. Not saying troops or equiptment wasn't on them, only saying what I saw. I at first thought BR was being over taken by MAGA. Timing of it is pretty coincidental, but I seriously doubt JBE has the foresight or balls to call them up this early.

Saw one fly over downtown last week but nothing today.

Interesting, they're not on the arrivals list on flightaware. I guess most of what I was looking at was charter flights, meaning there could be a shite ton more military planes at BTR currently than the 8 you saw come in earlier
Military flights don't show up on flight aware.

21 ton turret and a 1 ton breach. It's an experience shooting them. Badass.

So pardon my ignorant question, but then how in the hell do they get them where they need to be? Obviously there is a plane big enough to carry at least one, but do they fly them in one at a time? I imagine that we had 1000's of them in the Iraq war so that would have been a hell of a lot of flights if it was just one at a time.

If it is flown in which some are they usually would come in on a bigger aircraft like a C-17, C-5, cargo 747, or An 124. I worked at Mosul Approach and when they started flying MRAPS in we would get multiple C-17s or AN 124s a day.
