Cool. I've always been curious about the logistics that went in to war.

We only used the ramp for HALO jumps. Everything. Else was side door, static line jumps...

C5 for the win.

You've got that right. Huntsville has one of the largest runways in the Southeast and they frequently practice touch-and-goes here. I was bebopping down I-565 one day when one flew over about 200-300 feet above my car. Scared the crap out of me. He was just lumbering along like a big ol' bumblebee, and not all that much faster than I was driving. Or at least it didn't seem that way.

But the bottom line is that C-5's are WAY WAY WAY bigger than C-130s.

About ten years ago, I was in Pass Christian along the beach, and giant grey transports were passing most of the day. I assume it was actually 4 or 6 doing some kind of training out of Kessler, but that a guess. They were so big, it seemed like they were barely moving across the sky. They just lumbered past at maybe 2,000' or 3,000'.

Were they Navy/USMC (C-130T) or USAF (C-130J)? Eight would be two-to-four full USNR VR squadrons.

Mississippi ANG flies C-130s out of the Gulfport International Airport and do touch-and-goes quite a bit. May have been one of those.

These weren't C-130s. Much larger and they had jet engines. C-5 or C-17, I think. I'll have to look up some pics. I'm sure I'll recognize it.

Yeah seeing a C5 in the sky is crazy. Biggest plane I've ever seen in the air for sure. I see C130s every day and then to see a C5 it's like holy shite.

Never seen a B52 in the air but it's probably close in wingspan.

If thats the case they were C-17s.
You won't see C-5's doing multiple touch and goes unless you are around Kelly AFB Texas or maybe Rhein Mein Germany
Edit... or Dover Delaware of course

Easiest way to tell is that C-17s have upturned winglets at the ends of their wings
