Up close to a C-5...think: "it's impossible that thing can fly."
By the way, given the C-130s and BR's possible rioting and combat zone...gonna really frick up the cadence...
"If I die in the combat zone,
box me up and ship me....oh wait....shite, I'm already home....dammit."
Just doesn't work.

M1A2s get transported by sea and train. Empty they are 68 tons. Combat loaded with all ammo and crew serve weapons they are 72 tons.

I have been told that a C5 can carry 1 Abrams...and not much else.

8 C17s would take up a whole bunch of ramp space. Would be very surprised if it was C17s. If so, why would a small army be flown into or out of BTR?

When the C17s came on line, they said that the C17 could take off and land on the same amount of runway as a C130. I was skeptical. I've seen them land on about 2,000' of runway. The C17 is one impressive airplane.

The c130, aka Four Fans of Freedom, is impressive in its own right. Nothing like the Gunship. Can't imagine having that thing bearing down on you in combat.

I'm in the flight path to Dobbins here in Atlanta and get C-130s flying over my house just about every week. Occasionally we will get a C-5, I usually stop what I'm doing and wonder how that thing is able to fly.

These weren't C-130s. Much larger and they had jet engines. C-5 or C-17, I think. I'll have to look up some pics. I'm sure I'll recognize it.
Then they have to be C-17's because you would realize a C-5 in a heartbeat....they are massive and on approach look like they are lumbering/about to fall out of the sky.

Always a pleasure to jump out and get away from the fuel exhaust smell.

Okay. I actually go up close to a C-5 in Sigonella. I watched in awe as that behemoth got airborne. The plane completely dwarfed our C-130's.

I saw a bunch of military vechicles stopped on the Huey P the other day. I didn't see M1s but there were some other tanks. What are those likely to be down here.
Smaller than M1 and looked taller and less armored to the completely ignorant observer.

In the run up to the first Persian Gulf War there was some concern that it would sink in the sand. Very heavy, but a very effective platform. They are transported in C-5s and C-17s.
