Both Podnuhs and TJ Ribs are packed for lunch on the weekdays. Podnuh makes some of the best tater salad I have ever eaten.

Anything On Sherwood North if Florida Blvd is booming if it is boiled or fried foods, caters to Latinos, hair weave & nail salons, and pawn shops.

They even have a white dodge panel van that goes around in latino neighborhoods selling fruits and vegetables with Texas plates.

If the city parish and state wanted to collect Taxes go into these neighborhoods and check the Texas plates to see if they are legal. Then go after these vendors and collect sales taxes from them. The city parish and state budget would probably boom overnight with excess cash.

Not BR but in Walker on Walker South there is a gas station called Sportsman's Crossing or Corner or some shite like that. The owner is a mega dick, price gouged after the flood and is always pissing people off around that area. Some people must be lying because anybody that talks about that place swears they never spend money there. We stopped once when my wife was pregnant because she had to go to the bathroom. They wouldn't let her use it even if she was a paying customer. Happy to say, I've never spent a dollar there.

So the internet doesn’t say they’re closed but I drove past it yesterday and it was an Acadian Ambulance fleet center.

Yeah I thought so too but my roommate recently went there and bought a computer there.

FDL seems to be a very polarizing place. People seem to love it or hate it. I like it.

It’s okay but “Some of the best pizza in the state” is a massive overstatement

As mentioned upthread, a lot of pizza comes down to personal preference / what you are used to.

I’m OK with FdL but find it overrated. But the pizza I love is a kind my wife absolutely detests, but that is what I grew up on.

That travel shop on Jefferson by Bocage
has a closing sign out front currently

Also I thought Hobby Towne specialized in remote control cars, train sets, drones and other sort of guy stuff.

While Hobby Lobby and Michael's cater to basic pinterest women.

Joe's Crab Shack always baffled me because they made it a long time but I think Covid finally killed it.

That and Red Lobster. The Joe's location/building would be good for something new.

Have known the owner for years. A significant amount of their business is team sports. Its their bread & butter.

Bates & Thigpen on 3rd street HAS to be a money laundering joint

Bates & Thigpen is one of the oldest businesses in downtown Baton Rouge. I think the original location was across the street from the current one and moved sometimes in the 1920's.

If you need a real men's fedora style hat it is the place to go in Baton Rouge.

And Ruffino's is? Ruffin tried to hit on my GF one time coked up. What kind of dining experience is that? Dude walked around the dining room kissing on women like he's Richard Dawson. Food is overpriced, little quality, and bland. No thanks. I'll take the Osso Bucco from LV over any restaurant, and I've been all over the country.

I had to make a stop on Airline by old Woman's again today, then headed to my office downtown via Florida. I took a closer look and really I'm amazed by some of the places open on both Airline and Florida.

I was drawing a blank on the Fitness Expo place, but yes totally.. how the hell is that open? It said they have medical supplies. Maybe they sell niche scooters and stuff?

Now I want Florida Blvd. Piccadilly for lunch.

Cane's: boring, bland, fried chicken for non discriminating white folk. Crappy frozen fries too.

“Closed for remodeling” is BR for “fricking closed, period.”

That was how most places which went bust in the late 80s labeled themselves. Fuddruckers managed to do that twice.

We were just talking about this because Umami was closed for renovations, but they're back open, thankfully!

I agree, and the people that don't like it become extremely vocal and agitated that the ratio of people that like it is 2 to 1 against them.

The owner is such a horrible bitch and the building is so disgusting that I honestly don't even remember the pizza

Same way I feel about Pinetta's.
