Is bail something every criminal is entitled to in Baton Rouge? Or can some of these bastards just be detained without bail after a hearing?

"Criminals" are not entitled to bail, but the criminally accused are. In the US defendants are presumed innocent. With that presumption, they have a right to bail under the 8th Amendment. Like other rights there are exceptions, e.g. flight risk, danger to the community, etc.

”Do a story on that," Chief Paul said before abruptly ending the press conference.

Kiran will get right on it. Hey - wait a minute…

Unfiltered with Kiran, a digital news site, has had a tense relationship with the city’s police leaders since its outset. Emmy-award winning television journalist Kiran Chawla lists herself and her news site as plaintiffs in the civil rights suit, which was filed Friday in U.S. District Court for Louisiana’s middle district. She argues in the filing that Police Chief Murphy Paul has ordered the police department to block her access to public records. The suit says city leaders insist she must get credentialed through the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters before her media access is granted again.

Yes he is.

Of course the heat is finally getting to him, but we have a huge problem here in EBR and in my opinion the mayor, her chief, the Sheriff, the DA and the judges all are responsible.

Instead of a Summer of Hope we need a Sumner housecleaning. It’s time to take back the mean streets one thug at a time.

Judges and DA`s are just doing the deeds of their campaign donors of the democrat party machine.

They should be criminally charged because their actions or lack of action on criminals are responsible for harm to the public.

It is widely known that the likes of Soros want lawlessness and the destruction and demise of the USA .

Actions of lawlessness taken by elected officials that receive campaign funds from these demons should be charged with Treason.

Treason: Penalty: Under U.S. Code Title 18, the penalty is death, or not less than five years' imprisonment (with a minimum fine of $10,000, if not sentenced to death).

Yea, what he’s saying is right, but his actions (and the mayor’s) have been in opposition to that idea.

They have helped create the very problem that exists today, and have alienated the white community with their race-baiting equity bullshite.

And he’ll huff and he’ll puff, and he’ll do absolutely nothing about it, and neither will the mayor, or city council. It’s all one big show to give lip service to appease those who value talk over action, and will all blow over quickly up until another wave comes around and they’ll just wash and repeat.

Let me tell you something. If this city valued itself, it would NOT tolerate the crime, the dilapidated infrastructure, horrendous traffic, crumbling public education, atrocious crime, litter and graffiti everywhere you look, shanty town buildings and signage, overgrowth, etc. It would have invested in ALL of this long ago, but alas, take a look at the extreme lack of investment all over the city, and the story comes clearly into view. The problem with Baton Rouge is simply that there are too many Baton Rougeans, or better said, too many people who are satisfied with the status quo, and rationalize it and justify it as normal when it is anything BUT normality for most people living in this country.

Kinda sounds like he’s calling out the judges. I’d be frustrated too arresting the same ones over and over.

Props to Murphy Paul on this. Don’t stop though. Start calling out the judges by name.

Until the mayor, judges, white Southdown or Midcity liberals, and even himself stop pandering to the group causing the problems nothing will get done.

They are apart of the problem not the solution.

Summer of housecleaning needs to involve locking up violent tPOS with long prison sentences for habitual, violent offenders. Stop handing out manslaughter pleas on second degree murder cases.

Don’t the government and the citizens understand that if we just gave each slave descendant a million dollars, all these problems will go away?

MP is worthless. Low bonds are a part of the problem, but not THE problem. Your officers have to build good cases that allow the DA to get convictions. Once that's done, bonds are non-issues.

MP, are your officer aggressively making Terry stops? When your officers see a bunch of men loitering in a grocery store parking lot and drinking, do they drive on by? When your officers see no plate on a car or temp tag taped inside on the rear tinted window, do they pull it over? Every weekend it is The Fast and the Furious all over town, do you have a task force to interdict this? You can have an officer sitting on Burbank at night waiting for the Chargers and Challengers to come flying by. If you did the bare minimum, these guys would not be able to get insurance. Do you know that if you hear music blaring from a car, you can cite the driver and then check him for attachments (warrants) and do a plain view look through the car?

Bottom line, MP, is you are not doing your job and that's not going to change. In fairness, it's not entirely his fault, you need the backing of a strong mayor, and a populace that does not tolerate crime and dysfunction. If we had that, then Broome and MP would not be in office to begin with.

Great post. Judges and DAs are absolutely a problem but to act like they are THE problem is ridiculous. It’s always someone else’s fault.

Mayor Broome appointed Murphy Paul and she is funded by the treasonous democrat party machine, so nothing but a lot of hot air coming from him.

Yes. But his point is entirely valid. No one says a thing about judges like Eboni Johnson who literally ran on not incarcerating people, or Trudy White who made a campaign video saying criminals liked her because she sent them home. When thugs who have been arrested and bonded out numerous times reoffend, everyone blames the wrong people.

Now as far as morale within the department that's all him. And everyone knows low morale is terrible for public service agencies.

I know police in New Orleans have said similar things. I bet it’s the same in most these major cities.
