Aren’t most of the homeless camps outside the city limits (and thus outside of BRPD jurisdiction) anyway? What is Sid/EBRSO saying about it?

Make it illegal to give bums money. Ticket the motherfrickers giving them money. No money…. No fricking bums.

Round them up in bunches of 10 or so. Bring them to greyhound 30 minutes before a bus leaves for several states away.
Pay their fare. Send them away.
While I like that idea I don't see that happening
It worked in South Park, Colorado

Same thing.
1. EBR Parish Prison is not taking non-violent criminals at this time.
2. You can't write a misdemeanor summons without ID/address. If they don't have an ID or an address, they have to be booked, except... See #1

BRPD shouldn't have to do it alone. It's the state capitol, we have a whole state Department of Public Safety. We have state police in charge of the highways under which homeless like to camp. The Parish Sherriff's Office has a stake in the problem. We have city constables that drive around looking like cops.

Throw them in the Mississippi.
Next question.

Instead, create a statute that says it's against the law to have property people can dwell on without a house. If people are found living in a wooded area or abandoned area, the city will bulldoze that area daily and charge the owner of the property for the service.
Keep that shite going for awhile and watch the emcampments disappear.

You have to really screw up to see the inside of Parish Prison nowadays.

By and large, they don't want help. They want to live the way they're living. Force them to do it somewhere else.
They don't know societal norms or have any grasp of them Most of them are batshit crazy. They need help/education of sorts so that they can understand and be civilized. If they don't want to be civilized then move them to California and help them solve the water crisis.

Run them off every time they see them panhandling. If they cant make money then they will go somewhere else where they are allowed to make money. Simple solution.
People need to stop giving them money. They will leave if everyone stops.

Why is BRPD involved in a political debate? Enforce the law, that is your job. Baton Rouge is becoming a safe destination for traveling homeless, most of whom are pushed from other areas and are addicts and/or psychotic. We have to draw the line and keep this element out of Baton Rouge.

So it’s pointless because they can’t collect money on the citation.
Got it.
Kinda like why they only do seatbelt and insurance checkpoints over by LSU.

I hope they set up shop near you. Maybe you'd have a different opinion then. While I do agree that they shouldn't necessarily be put in jail, the fact that the BRPD is using such chicken shite excuses and offering no other helpful suggestions kinda backups up the idea that they're installed to basically collapse BR. (See murder numbers and crime rates since Paul was installed.)
I meant in no way is writing them a ticket or trying to put them in jail going to fix anything
Moving them from spot to spot really won’t do anything either, there are far too many of them
It is 100% a problem & one of the main reasons Broome & the metro council haven’t come up with a solution is because they haven’t figured out a way to grift from one yet
I would love for them to be rounded up & bussed off somewhere far away
You can’t put them in jail, you can’t put them in rehab, you can’t take away their stuff because it will cause more theft
I would like to know how many EMS calls go out for homeless OD’s

Oh buddy, just wait until they become violent. Heroin addicts are zombies. Methheads and the criminally insane are a whole other beast.

Catch 22 for the donut eaters.
Using limited resources to solve a problem which they really cannot solve.
They could fine them which is worthless.
They can put them in jail for a few hours and they will be back.
I thought we voted for a tax to increase the size of a facility to help people with mental disorders.
They could use some of the library tax money, COA money, etc to have a facility that helps these people.
Still some will refuse help.
Old days we just shipped them over to the next city which is an option.

Seems you’ve got a problem with bums, vagrants, junkies.
Bottom feeders lurking around every overpass and intersection with their poor me signs and zombie eyes.
Oh, and the cops say they can’t do nothing. Can’t arrest em, can’t beat ‘em, can’t drive em out. Because they can’t squeeze coin out of em like you or me.
No, they only prey upon the people, only pollute our waters.
See, our waters have become comfortable…welcoming even. And they are multiplying.
Cops won’t do a thing. Government won’t do a thing. Seems the burden falls upon the willing.
I’ll tell you how you drive them out. First you watch them, where they wander, where they feed. You find their nests and burn them out. Turn their dens to ash and dust.
Then when you see them polluting the corners and ramps, you stop staying silent. Chase them off. Send them scurrying. Let them know they will not be tolerated any longer.
Jackals grow confident when lions sleep.
So wake some damn lions.
