Y'know, I am all for rounding these types of up deporting them - - - and that is kinda how this was sold to us - - problem is I ain't seeing this. I am seeing guys yanked off rooftops as they try to work to support a family, I am seeing people rounded up at courthouses as the try to do this the right way, I am seeing American citizens dragged from their cars or chased into their homes because they "look" illegal. I dunno man - - this is awfully close to having to show papers at checkpoints to me.
The worst were going to be the first focus of the huge increase in enforcement not the only ones.
Those people “earning a living for family” have almost always had some other issue on top of being illegal that people like yourself ignore when press puts out corrected news reports or when federal official correct a report. Regardless being illegal is enough for me.
Those Americans arrested included people obstructing ICE from arresting illegals, driving cars at ICE officials, banging on the roofs of ice vehicles, damaging federal property, actually assaulting officers, or attempting to swarm the officers and not allow them to leave with illegals or get to illegals thru violence or other forms of obstruction (not protected protest).
I still don’t think I have actually read about an American citizen that was just picked up off the streets and detained that wasn’t actually arrested/detained for some charge of violence or other crime like obstructing towards ICE officers. Just because the left refuses to acknowledge those crimes doesn’t mean they did not happen.

Let's not forget about the sniper attack in Dallas, the molotov cocktail attack in Detroit (? or whereever that was, I am not looking it up), the rock attack on the agents in CA at the farm or the other times "Progressives" have attempted to kill the agents.

We found more than 50 Americans who were held after agents questioned their citizenship.
From a ProPublica study, but they spend most of the article talking about people arrested for protesting/interfering.
50 may be an inconsequential number, but it is certainly happening.

I couldn't give a frick less if someone was detained and later released. I've been detained before, life moves on.
Your melt in this thread has been a real treat to take in though.

Yes. Listen to this thought, it's possible to want strong borders while also believing that rounding up and deporting everyone is not a viable strategy.
NOPE. In direct contradiction with each other.

The irony is that you are calling them leaches stealing resources while also conceding they are working. Cut the welfare checks and you can maybe talk me into the need for mass deportations after.
We can walk and chew gum at the same time. We can cut welfare checks and SNAP across the board as well as simultaneously deport illegals out of this country.
I don't know how this is so hard to understand and I think many of us are frankly tired or trying to reason with such idiocy, but here is one last time:
I don't care if they have been here for 10 minutes or 10 years, if they are here illegally, THEY ALL MUST GO ALONG WITH ALL OF THEIR OFFSPRING. They are using resources that could and should be going to actual Americans, they DO NOT assimilate, they DO NOT take pride in being American (if they did, they would have finished the process long before). They are simply here to grift, take advantage of this nation's resources, and send money back home. Period. There is no further discussion. They need to go. Their simple existence is STEALING from me and my children's future, which at the moment we are still trying to be civilized about. Violence and vigilante justice is the very next thing that comes.

doesn’t remotely come close to offsetting the welfare they require.

…DHS said that you'd been arrested because you became violent and refused to comply with law enforcement.
So I still have not seen someone picked off the streets and detained solely for being Hispanic. There are allegations of violence or other crime like obstructing towards ICE officers.

Voted for Trump 3 times bub. Go check my post history. Disagreeing that all illegals should be deported doesn't outweigh the desire to end DEI, tax cuts, cut government spending, decrease inflation, securing the border, end our involvement with foreign wars (we shall see how that turns out), bringing back manufacturing to the US, amongst other things. Besides things I voted for Trump to do, it was more for things he wouldn't do like massive student loan forgiveness, COVID bullshite mandates and their progeny, raising taxes, increase government spending, keeping sending money to Ukraine and Israel, climate change lies, and attacking the 2A.

Juan in Kenner who's been there since 2005 working construction and has never been arrested isn't the problem
Then Juan has had TWENTY YEARS to figure out his paperwork but still hasn't done it. You know, when you travel internationally, you must show your passport no less than 972 times. In addition, upon return to the U.S. as a U.S. citizen, you must still go through security, show your passport, have your carry-on scanned AGAIN, and then...and only then...are you allowed to move on through.
Even with Global Entry you must take a picture on the app, have the kiosk scan your face, and then have the guard scan your face again to go through. This is all after you've had a prior meeting with an officer and submitted fingerprints.
I am a born and raised American with zero criminal record. So yeah, Juan can join the paperwork shite show that comes with being a U.S. Citizen, not to mention the hundreds of dollars all of this costs me, an American taxpayer.

Honestly, we’ve got more overlap than I expected. On most of the policy stuff you listed, we’re rowing in the same direction.
But here’s the part you seem to be glossing over: a lot of people voted for Trump because they wanted mass deportations and most of those people still want mass deportations. It was never going to be pretty, but needs to get done.
