Which is entirely the fault of the U.S. Justice Department. The sad thing is the Judge Parker lived right around the corner from me and all three of his kids went to Lee High, but had graduated by the time he made his desegregation order.

Are you forced to go to bars that allow smoking? If the answer is no, then you have no argument.

Typical, simplistic argument from a smoker.

If you people want to endanger your long-term health by the utterly stupid habit of smoking, that's your business. But you have no right to keep me from enjoying my favorite bar or going to the casino to play blackjack because I don't want to breath your sickening cigarette smoke. I'm so glad Baton Rouge is getting with the rest of modern cities on this issue. Just because a dumb minority still insist on smoking doesn't mean they should be able to endanger non-smoker's health in public places.

In Harris County...Houston... smoking is prohibited unless it's a member only place..or has keys and access cards to gain entry.

Oh but you have the right to ruin other people's experience. Got it. And I'll have an occasional smoke..when I'm drinking...at a bar.

I love how you decry big government when comes to desegregation, but you love big government when it comes to telling businesses what they can/can't do.

Same old shite from fake "conservatives"

Yeah, it's total bullshite that the government can make laws that benefit certain businesses and handicap others.

I tend to agree that the cigar bars shouldn't have been exempted, but the ordinance would not have passed had they included them too. It was a compromise in the name of public health. As people become more and more educated about the dangers of second-hand smoke, I'm sure the cigar bars are living on borrowed time.

It's private property and that's the crux of the issue

except that doesn't matter. At all. The bar owners can shift to a member's only model if they want smoking in their bar so bad.

Oh waahhhhhhhh!

My heart really bleeds for you. Typical selfish smoker who thinks his rights trump the vast majority of people who are too intelligent to indulge in a stupid habit like smoking.

You have the right to have the state force businesses at gunpoint to ban legal activities?

you believe you should have the right to tell a business how its run when it's doing fine and only allowing legal behaviors?
