during the remodeling of them, every one was broken into and all the appliances stolen. I just dont think its a safe area anymore and its def not worth what people are paying. It probably used to be a very nice, safe area. But like most places in BR it has deteriorated.

It's actually quite the opposite. My neighbors have been here for 45 years and watched everyone leave 30 years ago and houses turned to rentals. They've watched young families coming back in the last 5-10 years.

And I've renovated both houses in Mid City I've lived in during the last 8 years. Neither had a theft during the process. Both of which were complete renos.

People can bitch all they want on here, the proximity to downtown, LSU and all the businesses in the city of BR makes it a desirable place to live
Exactly, the proximity to the interstate, shopping, groceries and just about anywhere in BR makes it great.

Didn't Doug get married at the CWS in Omaha? One other thing, didn't matter if it was 20 degrees outside, he always wore shorts.

Negative. He spent his profit for the next three years on unforeseen issues with the renovations. He like all of you are hopeful this resurgence project works for his prop value. I hope it works out for you. It may have its upsides but when you are walking distance from the areas you are walking distance from, these kinds of robberies and thefts are going to be more common.

Keep fighting the good fight in the Mid City BR thread

I can't wait to buy a small house in mid-city. Lived on Richland from 06-08 and have been trying to get back there since 2011. Another year or so and we'll be ready. Place was exciting area 10 yrs ago and is even more so now.

Man, maybe he did. I didn't work at Govt St and I'm talking about 26 years ago.

Like I said, we'd get sent over there to cover shifts. The Nicholson store was like Animal House and Doug ran Govt St like Angola so we'd piss him off more often than not when we went over there.

Old Goodwood resident here. I love the area, and my kid plays in the neighborhood with tons of other kids. I have an alarm, a dog and own firearms. I go to bed feeling safe every night.

EBR Assessor just told me my property value went through the roof. My kids will go to OLOM and Catholic/St. Joes. My inlaws live in the neighborhood, and I enjoy the restaurants and convenience of living centrally to good food and grocery stores, LSU, downtown, the mall, Perkins Rowe, etc.

People have reasons for living where they live.

And, to be honest, most of BR is within a mile or two of some really rough areas. South Downs is across from Valley Park, parts of Highland and the Bluebonnet extension are a stones throw from Gardere. Hell, the last house we built, in Carraigewood (in South BR) had more issues than the home we built in Old Goodwood.

Adam, where in south BR do you live?

No I didn't eat at Brew Bacher's that night.
I do like the small hamburger steak.

My eyes must be giving me problems that picture of the person they arrest looks like a something between maybe a guy or girl. I just cannot tell.

he apparently tossed the gun out of the car when he drove off. the cops were just out here walking up and down the street looking for it.

Never understood why people think having a rehab center near your house is horrible. People are there to better themselves and are there voluntarily.

You're kidding, right?

There was a deli that got held up on the 23rd, too. Probably the same piece of shite. He put a gun to the owner's head. I don't know the owner, but I know of him and I have family close to him.
