To the people who defend these dogs. Like all dogs, I am sure they can be sweat dogs. I have a chihuahua/weenie dog mix who lets me do whatever, he doesn't get mad at me, when I am home he is at my side every second. But he is more aggressive to other males, not that aggressive towards females and will let kids pet him, but he has had his moments when he snapped at my nephews. I fuss at him and he comes to my side and doesn't make eye contact with me like he knows he did something she shouldn't have. When he goes at a grown man she will snap at their shoe, if they stomp their foot he comes run back to me.
If he would actually bite someone, it could likely draw some blood.. Put some neurosporene on a Band-Aid.. whatever.. But he is 12 and hasn't bitten anyone, just snapped at a few people a few times. Now take him and put him into a pitbull body. That's a whole different story. That snap wouldn't be a snap. Its no longer a 12 lbs dog with much smaller teeth that will go run to his dog bed when you yell at him or slap him in the mouth. All it takes is one bad day in which a situation happens where that pitbull decides to but that jaw grip on someone.
Its like having firecracker wars and you shooting Romain candles at each other, throwing jumping jacks. If it hits you, it can burn the shite out of you, but its one part of your body that might hurt for a few days, you have to bandage up.. And then someone decides "if we are playing war, I am going get my gun" and he goes in and gets his shotgun. All of a sudden that bastard can kill someone.

You likely would've picked up a kid with a 70lb dog hanging off of him. If enough flesh would've torn away for the dog to lose grip, it probably would've jumped up and clamped down on him again somewhere else.
Remember that what makes a pitt so dangerous is its incredible jaw strength. Natures version of a Vicegrip. Either kill it on the spot or choke it out.
