Ken Pastorick, Communications Director for the Dept.of Corrections, has confirmed with News 10 that Brandon Scott Lavergne, an inmate from the Louisiana Penitentiary at Angola attempted an escape this week.
"Officers captured him through multiple alarms and our prison staff," Pastorick said.
It happened around 4:30 a.m. Monday.
"He did try and escape from his prison camp," Pastorick said, "however he didn't get past his perimeter fence."
According to Pastorick, officers we were able to see the escape attempt and he was captured.
"We honed in on our subject and he was immediately captured," Pastorick said.
In August, 2012, Lavergne pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder in the slayings of two Louisiana women, Michaela "Mickey" Shunick of Lafayette, and Lisa Pate of Youngsville.
Lavergne pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal that will allow him to avoid the death penalty and instead serve life in prison.
Shunick's body was found Aug. 7 buried near some grave sites in a small cemetery off La. Highway 10 in the Evangeline Parish near Mamou.
Lavergne is now being held in own cell in administrative segregation, according to Pastorick.
An investigation is ongoing, he said.
"There are 5,000 people at Angola, and this is an isolated incident," Pastorick said.
"The public's safety and security were never compromised," he said.

This whole “breaking” in the titles for news that doesn’t matter is getting old. It’s the same as when there were a bunch of spin offs and Chicken had to hammer down on that.

Everyone knows the first step is to gain the warden’s trust and get assigned to train the tracking dogs.

Obviously Andy Dufresne is much smarter than Lavergne when it comes to prison escapes....

You know exactly what I’m talking about and multiple other people in this thread mentioned it. You know damn welll this thread didn’t need BREAKING in the title other than garnering attention.
Don’t get upset with me because your thread sucks
