ea, part of that is his point, what didn't you understand about that?

Exactly.

False accusations, despite being only 8% of total accusations, are a real problem. From my post on the MSB:

quote:

There have been some high profile cases that were an abomination (Duke, UVA), and the conduct hearing stuff is insane, but I think the most disappointing thing is this stuff overshadows the serious problem that rape truly is. Every regret rape, Duke LAX case, and William and Mary situation is a slap in the face to real victims and makes it that much more difficult for victims to seek justice.

I think it is hard to deny that victims are often hesitant to come forward and that should be addressed, but the current solution is a mockery.

However, the idea that a few false accusations means all rapes are false is dumb, and the idea that we should make it MORE difficult/discouraging for real victims to come forward is preposterous.

Never trust a man who wears khakis and works for State Farm. That guy's wife was right to be suspicious at 4am.

Well if the accused wanted to, what would stop him from blasting her name on every social media available?

Nothing. But if Jake has a lick of sense, he'll thank his lucky stars he wasn't convicted and let sleeping dogs lie.

To be honest I'm surprised they release anyone's name before a conviction. Kind of fricked up when you think about it .

IMO it should be policy to not release names until the trail has played out. The only exception should be an active man hunt type deal.

Agreed.

Perhaps an attorney can shed some light as to why names are public in the first place.

I don't think an attorney would have any special knowledge. Absent a court order, aren't all criminal actions public information? It's only a media policy to not name rape accusers. We treat it differently than other crimes. I don't think we should.

His attorney sounds like something else

Gill alleged the woman used handcuffs, whips, blindfolds and other items in the past and even whispered, “Let’s try something,” into Witz’s ear after telling him her shirt cost only $2.

Gill, who noted the woman had a boyfriend at the time of the alleged rape, accused the alleged victim of putting on a “show” in court while on the witness stand and shedding crocodile tears.

“When cheaters get caught, they deny, deny, deny,” he told the jury.

That fricking creeper did it. If she had handcuffs he would have been locked to the bed.

And I'm going with him wearing the $2 shirt. A neon wife beater. He should go to jail just for that.

Who has consentual sex with someone, tears the clothes off, slaps them, makes them unlock their phone to delete the text messages, forces her to take a bath before leaving, and says "this never happened. "

Not to mention lawyering up before the police read him his rights.

Sounds like he has experience with this type of behavior...not surprised other who have met him said he was a creep and had other women who had issues with him.

He will be arrested and charged again.

Also, for those saying it's unfair to name him and not the alleged victim, it's even worse to withhold the name of a potential or suspected sexual predator and not inform the public of potential danger.

I cant decide if its more unbelievable that this happened or its more unbelievable that someone could make it up. Therefore I just forget it. Although I feel like there would be some way to get some sort of evidence. If they check phone records to see that texts went through, and they arent on either persons phone, then that seems like it would potentially be pretty damning towards him. Because if she was lying then he possibly wouldnt have deleted any texts from her. Whereas if she were telling the truth, it would be suspicious if he had deleted texts as well as her.
