I understand the sentiment, but I have a hard time supporting anything that makes it more difficult/traumatizing for a real victim to come forward. Whether we like it or not, there are legitimate rapes that go unreported because of the public backlash that victims receive already.

Agreed, it's a slippery slope with situations like this.

The foreman of the jury told News 2 that the "state didn't cross the finish line on prosecuting the case," and that there were a lot of gaps in the story. The trial had been in session since last Tuesday. "We believed in our case and believe in our victim. The case was presented fairly and fully. The defendant was well represented. We respect the jury's decision," District Attorney Hillar Moore said.

I guess the fact that this site is dominated by college-aged males it should be expected, but I'm always surprised how quickly this place jumps to blame the victim.

Just because the guy isn't going to jail doesn't mean he didn't rape thus woman. Innocent until proven guilty and beyond reasonable doubt are pillars of our judicial system, but they're designed to keep innocent people out of jail more so than keep all guilty people in jail, so to speak.

The jury didn't come back and say they were 100% certain this guy didn't commit a crime, yet most of the responses want the potential victim to be exposed as if she did something wrong.

Was he just a douche, or was he a bit rapey? One is not a crime.

either will ruin a persons life(getting raped or being falsely accused of rape)

blame all the girls who cry wolf either by straight up lying or instigating prosecutions over "regret rape"

again, the media typically coddles and protects women who lie about rape the same as actual victims

Sure I just hate how black and white people try to make this kind of thing.

The original thread is full of guys wanting thus dude under the prison and now he's not guilty so they want the accuser's name exposed.

Everyone would do better to remember to let things play out before condemnation. We should also realize that not guilty =/= innocent.

On a separate note, the Admins should start whacking threads or outright banning posters (like this one with 10k posts) who know better but still insist on starting threads with nothing but a link.

FOR frickS SAKE, give us a damn quote - a snyposis - a picture? Something.

Just because the guy was accused, doesn't mean he IS guilty.

Double edged sword.

I do, and I said as much in the Baylor thread on the MSB.

How many times do those lies end up with a jury trial? I'm legitimately asking. I'd assume the DA doesn't make a habit of indicting suspects on completely fabricated stories, no?

You would be very, VERY mistaken. Remember the Duke Lacrosse players? I could name a ton more but won't.
