not to mention how much business they'll lose because people will be scared to go to their parks.
Sounds like a good time to head to New Braunfels.

I would have a hard time riding it for fun knowing that a young boy lost his life on the same slide. If that makes me a pussy, lol away.

THey are actually secured in a raft of sorts. But he could have come lose and fell forward
Jesus look at that thing. One strong gust of wind and it flips over. Somebody was going to die on this. Seems obvious, but I bet someone also made a million bucks or whatever so it's all worth it.
Hopefully there's tort reform in Kansas to put a max value on human life.

They'll be ordered to hand it over soon.
At least one or two people died on the Thunder Mountain Railroad ride at Disneyland. What a shitty way to go.

The safety cages aren't all that relevant if you start falling forward and fall 100 feet. That net doesn't do shite for that. You'll still hit the bottom at the full speed of gravity and die.
Something tells me if you fall forward, youre just going to hit the 70 degree slope right away. Not hit the bottom at the full speed of gravity. That would require a straight drop.

A couple of things I have been able to put together from Reddit.
As for the ride safety.
As for potential lawsuits:
As for the picture with blood on the slide:
quote:
The media is doing a terrible job reporting on this incident. I have ridden the slide and there is no age limit - it was reported, by Fox, that there is minimum age requirement of 14. There are 3 people allowed per raft - it was reported that there were 4 allowed on every raft. Every local news station reported that Caleb was 12. As we all now know, Caleb was 10 years old, not 12. And the weight limit is 400-550lbs, not 300-400lbs, as reported by Fox.
As for the ride safety.
quote:
My adult brother rode it earlier in the season and said the Velcro harness came undone and had to hold onto the belt with his hands the rest of the way down to keep from flying off the raft. This is unfortunate. Velcro is actually really good for stuff like this. Until it wears out. And I bet that's what happened here.
As for potential lawsuits:
quote:
IN Kansas, wrongful death is capped at $250,000. Wentling damages and punitive damages can add to that significantly, but that cap is a "tort reform"ers dream.
quote:
Kansas has horrible laws for compensating victims. Damages are capped at $250k. The bad PR will hurt the company more than the lawsuit unfortunately.
As for the picture with blood on the slide:
quote:
Keep in mind that the darkest areas actually have black flooring under it
quote:
look to the left side of the pool area, there is much more "accurate" discoloration over there.

How fricked up was the guy whose leg decapitated the kid at Six Flags?

As a KC local I've never been to that park. I can tell you driving by the park that thing looks dangerous. BTW verruckt in German means insane.

Fricking terrifying, you mean.

That moment when you're on the world's largest slide and your belt comes undone, how unfortunate....
If these things were reported and known, I'm not sure why nothing was ever done? You have the World's largest slide and you just kinda pass this off. I wonder how many others had their belts come undone? I would've died of a heart attack (I'm scared of heights but still do roller coasters and such) if my belt came undone and I had to cling to the raft to live.

Put a disclaimer on it.
If something goes horribly wrong you're probably going to die. You getting on the ride is telling everyone else on the planet they can't sue us if that happens. Have fun.

frick. That. shite.
The worst ride experience I ever had was when my log on the log ride at Six Flags Over Texas took on too much water and "sank".
However, this may speak to the lack of attention paid by the ride attendants. In my incident, none of the kids running the ride believed me until I showed them. When this guy (hopefully) told an attendant about his velcro coming loose, they probably didn't believe him and ignored it.

How much longer was this park gonna stay open for the year?
Wouldn't be surprised if the park was trying to hold out to the end of the season before replacing those velcro straps.
