Should have shot the POs when he didn't comply. We need new laws that give police right to shoot immediately if the idiot doesn't comply.

This is the quote you replied to

quote:

And people wonder why officers get "trigger happy" when dealing with someone that doesn't comply.
Clearly, the command the poster is talking about is "let me see your hands." Which when not followed, will and SHOULD absolutely make an officer trigger happy

Evidently not. He's speaking of compliance in general, not a specific incident.

See that guy? That's how guilty people act; but we've got an entire generation that thinks that they need to act like that to police.

This is it, in a nutshell.

This is exactly what could have happened if those two BRPD officers approached Sterling the way Sharon Weston Broome thinks they should have.

You hang him, I'll watch him be hung and we'll stand around and argue semantics as the SOB twitches and defacates on himself.

Goes to show how quickly you can go from not being able to see a suspect's hands to a severed vein in the neck and two broken arms.

And this officer did literally everything the cop-haters are always spewing. Very nearly lost his life for his trouble.

I think in that scenario where the person is not complying the officer should take them down earlier in the process. He asked him multiple times to comply, after a couple, it's time for action.

We're close to having a better technological alternative.

Disengage and monitor until sufficient backup arrives might be a viable alternative to the risk of escalating an encounter.

I hope that day comes soon.

What's the point of shooting an officer? I guess the better question is what's the strategy? You're not getting away with it, and whatever you've done is going to be that much worse.

They're not rational, plain and simple. This is what the SJW's and BLM fricking morons don't take into account.

This whole incident started on New Years Day at 11 in the morning when this thug was harrassing customers of a convenience store.
And he was in possession of the 9mm gun all along. This really could have turned out very terribly not only for the heroic officer, but for the people at the store.
35 years for him is not enough, especially since he'll probably be paroled much sooner.
