HAMPTON COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -
Prosecutors have released camera footage of a Lowcountry police officer being shot by a suspect.

The Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office released the video on Thursday showing the shooting of Estill Police Officer Quincy Smith, who survived the shooting, on Jan. 1, 2016.

Malcolm Antwan Orr was found guilty on Wednesday for the shooting after a two-day trial at the Hampton County Courthouse.

According to the the solicitor's office, Smith was shot four times while responding to the call.

"A camera in Smith’s glasses, which the officer purchased for himself on Amazon, captured the incident," said officials with the solicitor's office.

Smith was struck at least three times, suffering two broken arm bones and a “life threatening” neck injury.

One of the more intense body camera videos I've seen.

This officer is doing just what BLM and all the Hug a Thugs say officers should be doing. Just walking along with the guy, repeating verbal commands and using a Taser and look what happens.

Can't watch a video with a thread title like that.

The bystander in the video that comes up to help the officer does a great job.

And people wonder why officers get "trigger happy" when dealing with someone that doesn't comply.

See that guy? That's how guilty people act; but we've got an entire generation that thinks that they need to act like that to police.

I wonder how long it took for emergency responders to get to him.

Dang, I guess we see how fast someone with a gun in their pocket can turn it lethal. I doubt that taser would have worked with that heavy jacket on that guy anyway. Glad the officer survived.

That bystander who stayed with the officer and assisted him in communicating with dispatch should be commended.

If I'm reading the timestamp in the video right, about 8 or 9 minutes from shooting to when help gets there.

Not bad for a town of 2,000 people in the middle of nowhere.

Feed that punk to cage full of pit bulls that haven't eaten in about 5 days.

At least we can put those dogs to good use.

That is why you never start with a taser in that situation. Thank god the officer survived and frick that POS coward that shot him.

Important to note this took place 7 months prior to Alton Sterling. And this isn't some isolated incident. Any time a suspect acts like this (doesn't comply), cops know this is a possible outcome.

Even scarier is that they probably knew each other. Estill, SC is a town of only about 2,000. The officer is a young guy as well.
