Guess what?

Black people with means want safe neighborhoods with good schools, too. They don't want to live around drugs and trash and want to be able to let their kids go out and play without getting shot.

What the article smoothly leaves out is that all those "fancy" neighborhoods in ATL have lots of black people living there.

And if St George is 12% black that will closely represent the black population percentage in the United States.

People oughta mind their own damn bidness.

They oughta "People are sick of bullshite fortressing" , but that ain't gonna get no clicks.

That is everywhere in the parish TBH.

Any empty area some dumbfrick in a Charger can find at 3am ends up with that.

I didn't major in geography, but unless I missed something isn't St. George still in EBR parish?

Where exactly is St. George taking these people?

The author, including her pronouns:
quote:

Luisa Godinez-Puig
SHE/HER/HERS

Hyphenated name. Check.
quote:

doctoral fellow at the Initiative on Cities and the Center for Antiracist Research

quote:

research consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank
quote:

Her work has been published in Urban Affairs Review, Public Health Reports, Ethnopolitics, and the Monkey Cage blog of the Washington Post and by the Brookings Institution and the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.
quote:

Godinez-Puig holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in political science from Boston University, a master of laws degree from the University of Chicago, and a law degree (juris doctor equivalent) from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.

So a person who has spent their entire life in academia, with no actual experience in the real world doesn't know her arse from a fricking hole in the ground. Once again... shocked.

FALSE. The whole article is an opinion piece based on a false statement.

It's either a squatted pickup driven by a drooling idiot or a Dodge Charger driven by a drooling idiot. Depends on the neighborhood.

St. George probably has both.

Embrace it

I live in a “gentrified” neighborhood and this is pretty much spot on.

It's a hell of a lot simpler than that. It's a woman who's entire livelihood depends of there being an abundant supply of "racism" so she's got every incentive to create it.

No they’d live in the garden district but as close to Perkins overpass or LSU as possible. They certainly wouldn’t live anywhere near downtown

I would invite this "jounalist" to come on down and spend just a few hours on the North side of Florida and report back if they are able.

The way I see it, and I could be wrong - It's not that St george is running from a specific demographic, its separating itself from a poorly run city, with the belief that it can operate more efficiently by annexing away from EBR, ensuring better quality of life for those that live within the confines the St George area. But good luck trying to convince the virtue signaling race bating leftist of this...

Also...

quote:

St. George’s demographics are quite different from the parish it is part of: Only 12% of the proposed new city’s residents would be Black

That's roughly only 1% less than the total percentage of the African american population living in the US today, so wtf is the issue?

They'd live in Spanish Town and insist that their cars were broken into so that the less fortunate could buy bread and diapers because the the white folk in SG were hogging all the good paying jobs

Honest question -- How does leftover Baton Rouge fix itself? For that matter, how does any dying city in America with a disappearing tax base fix itself? I don't see any of them succeeding.

Assume for purposes of my question, Baton Rouge will continue to elect black democrat leadership. What policies can be enacted to improve the economic outlook and quality of life?

If the answer is "none," then White Fortress will eventually need walls with machine guns mounted on top.
