When in fact this is the exact opposite of that. Red state scores are adjusted up while Blue state scores are adjusted down

Great . I see you walked right into it too.

So Maga Dogeing the DOE out of existence is the logical thing to do right? The less we spend on them the stronger student's scores are correct?

Wonder if Covid lockdowns had anything to do with it. Mississippi and Louisiana didn’t lock down as aggressively.

How about Black students? The root of Mississippi’s bad reputation is its historically awful record on civil rights - including its refusal to integrate schools.

Schools integrated in the late 60’s and it’s still the excuse for poor performance by black kids.

Given they overhauled HOW they spent and went back to tried and true methods that means that they took the same amount of spending they had and were more EFFICIENT with it.

Sounds like the prime idea of the department of government efficiency. They did things at the state level

I think you in your typical racist liberal way though can’t comprehend that southern black students are smart enough and worthy enough of doing better than northern counterparts even with less money. Hence you accusing them of cheating

I know you don’t know who I am so I’ll give you a little insight, I have been extremely supportive of DOGE and efforts taken to make the Fed Gov smaller.

I dislike the DOE as I feel that they have morphed (giving the founding a benefit of the doubt) into a gigantic academic slush fund that’s proliferated the explosion of non-teaching, middle management academic staff at elementary, middle, and high schools.

This explosion of staff has resulted in fewer resources going to actual teachers and actual students but rather to an academic jobs programs for people with education degrees.

Correlation is not causation. If the school systems that spent more per student used that money to more so to pay teachers more, possibly attracting and retaining better teachers, while instituting evidenced based curriculums the scores for those systems may be better.

MS and LA have adopted curriculums and strategies using proven teaching methods used decades ago for reading in particular and somewhat in mathematics. That’s why our score relative to others have increased generally, and when adjusted demographically, significantly.

So Maine did score higher than Louisiana. LA was adjusted up and ME down.

What is the adjustment?

This reeks of the Atlanta Public Schools cheating scandal

I don't believe this for a second.

What does the mean?

It may be obvious, but I have no knowledge on the topic...

Yep. Wondering how long those states can keep this up, and how long before this gets noticed beyond the circles that track it.

I do not know the weighting, but what I THINK they did was take the average score of each racial demographic of a state:
Example (making numbers up)
LA:
55% White - Avg score of 85
30% Black - Avg score of 75
10% Latino - Avg score of 77
5% Asian - Avg Score of 90

To adjust, they would take each states demographics average score and change the % of population to that of the overall US.

That’s what I believe they did as that’s what I read last month when this was posted first

Those who have actually paid attention( it’s been brought up on this board a few times) know this is the result of a years long project in Mississippi to change how students are taught.

A simple 5 minute Google search can prevent you from being a fool.

That’s ridiculous! It makes no sense to make that adjustment. They are outright saying that LA has too many black, blacks are stupid, so let’s adjust the scores. Liberal racist bullshite on display
