Strange how liberals scream about company not paying taxes, but employ a woman or a minority and take all the tax breaks you want!

It is Top Golf's fault for dealing with these people in the first place. Should have set up shop in one of the suburban cities.
I'm sure that other companies are watching and taking notes. This is short term thinking (or maybe not thinking at all) by Woodfin and his crowd. Way to create an environment that will encourage businesses to locate in the city.

In Louisiana we just find a "qualified" minority designed candidate who has a license and we put the company in his/her name but the real owner of the company is disguised in a Counter Letter so the Government never knows how actually the owner of the company is unless we have to file the counter letter in court which never happens.

While I don't agree with the initial agreement, I will side with the City of Birmingham in this case.
Let's say a business wants to open and promises X amount of jobs. Government gives them tax credit incentives for this.
If the company doesn't deliver on the agreed upon job amount, I don't see where the State should have to meet the agreed upon incentives.

Problem is nobody knows the circumstances of why the minority owned contractors percentage wasn’t higher.
Were there firms available to perform the work? Could they handle it? Were they not on schedule and TopGolf had to get the project done?

Pretty irrelevant to his point. There is nothing wrong here. Top Golf did what they thought was best to get their facilities built, and the city denied an incentive since the criteria was not met.

30% is a ridiculous goal, but if Topgolf agreed to it and failed to meet that part of the agreement, then I have no problem with their agreement being vacated.

define "participation" - did they specifically agree that it would be quantified by construction dollars spent? What kind of dollars? Building construction, land development, public infrastructure upgrades, soft costs, fees...? Did they do a land lease with a local redneck's family trust and land/utility development budget was under a different permit/project or funding source?

based on my experience dealing with this shite in "southern metro areas", the shitholes just want as much cash as they can squeeze and asking questions or for accountability gets you called the R word.

I find it very relevant. Either all are equal under the law or they’re not. How can there be racial equality when a government entity takes tax dollars collected from tax payers of all races and use that money to benefit one race at the expense of others?
