Funny how, after 30 years of not annexing, all of a sudden BR wants to annex homeowners. When they could steal from the southern part of the parish, they had no interest in adding any more space. Now, they are begging to annex the tax paying portion of the parish.

The Metro Council is already crippled.

Flooding them with this just exposes it further, especially if you have some a-hole who ghosts every meeting because he doesn’t want to vote on anything.

Can I apply to be released by BR and annexed into St George? Our neighborhood does border the St George line

You can. Just follow the law.

attaching 2 plats (whatever the hell those are)

Plats would be drawings of the property and/or building schematics.

They aren’t smart enough to realize this and/or they are hypocritical bastards doing this because of “frick you, got mine” because their kids are in the EBR magnet program and they don’t want to risk that.

Best guess? People trying to ensure they aren’t part of an ISD.

The boundary of the ISD is already set.

I didn’t say they were SMART. I said this is what they are probably trying to do.

The funny thing about that is their property taxes will immediately increase with the addition of the Cats tax that they are not currently paying.
I just called ME Cormier and asked about this.

She could not answer the question.

Another thing is if Baton Rouge expands the city limits by annexation the Cats tax renewal may have problems passing in the future because I’m sure these areas would vote against it. Very interesting

Its getting to the point there is no reason to live in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The vindictive people in Baton Rouge will insure EVERYONE and EVERYTHING in parish is miserable, second-class, and substandard. The only exceptions are Central and Zachary as they left early.

That might be the only hope in that Central and St. George combine in someway for local political reasons. Hard to bully those who are bigger than you.

In the CATS election just over 18,700 in BR voted yes. The turnout was very low, something like 26%.

It will be an interesting renewal. They'll probably try and sneak it through again.

If someone doesn't want to be in St. George why stop them from leaving? Forming a city is was St. George's state constitutional right. Annexing into BR via petition is also their constitutional right.

look at the map of how precinct by precinct voting went. Almost the entire West and SW portion of St. George voted no with a only a few pockets of yes. It barely won in the first place and it appears all the "fors" were out in the east part of the parish.
