“Better Together” annexation plan regarding St George

They just can’t accept the results of the election. Below is their plan:
One Baton Rouge will help facilitate annexation for anyone who is interested. We've received an overwhelming response this week (over 500!) from people wishing to annex. We'd like to coordinate these efforts so that we can help the most amount of people do so. We have petitions already drafted by an experienced annexation attorney and are well-versed in this process. We will take care of all of the paperwork, all you have to do is sign! We're currently mapping out all the current requests to see where we have enough support outright and will start with those neighborhoods and work our way through the list. I wanted to clear a couple of things up:
1. There is no timeline to annex. The "30 day clock" does NOT apply to annexations, only election certifications. Unless and until St. George becomes a city, annexations can continue as usual. Over the normal course of events, it would take several months for the city of St. George to actually be formed (and affect the annexation process) or several years if litigation is filed (which is most certainly will be). That being said, since we don't actually know when St. George will be ready, we'd like to move as quickly as possible getting these annexations processed.
2. The process to annex is fairly simple. You file an annexation petition, with 2 plats attached, to the metro council and they vote to approve it. That's it! You can search for news articles for past annexations (Lauberge, Costco, Celtic Studios, etc. and a residential neighborhood called Legacy Court)
3. Anyone can annex! You have to be adjacent to current city limits and each annexation petition must be contiguous, and you need 50%+1 property owners in support, otherwise there are no other parameters. If you are a single home, adjacent to city limits, you can annex your own property. Or just one, adjacent street with 50%+1 signatures can annex. Or a whole neighborhood.
4. We can find you a path to annexation. Not adjacent to city limits? Deep in the heart of St. George? Don't be discouraged, the path to annexation could still be possible. With so much support in just this first week, we could very well find a path to annexation to you. So please encourage everyone you know interested in doing so email us their name, address, and phone number and we'll see what we can do!
5. Annexation Day -- we're working on a community event where those interested in annexing can come and sign the petition at Annexation Day. We're still working on the date and location. Details are forthcoming!
We are B R!

Didn’t the state pass a law that you weren’t able to do annexations while there was an incorporation attempt in progress? You know, SPECIFICALLY because BR fricked with St George last time around?

They can go broke and go frick themselves.

And funny she mention “Legacy Court”.
Didn’t they attempt to get annexed and were denied?

So requiring photo ID to vote is racist but filing an annexation petition and attaching 2 plats (whatever the hell those are) then getting the metro council to vote on it is a piece of cake.

Can I apply to be released by BR and annexed into St George? Our neighborhood does border the St George line.

so what's the advantage of annexing away from St. George?
aside from racism

If you want to be annexed into BR it will be a 2 step process.
1) You must request to be de-annexed from the city of St. George by the future St. George city council.
2) if given approval, then that newly unincorporated area must now request incorporation into the city of Baton Rouge.

Does this cat lady Cormier understand that once St. George passes whatever court challenge the city is going to toss up, there will be no point for Broome and crew to annex anything? This is all for nothing. Go broke.

Best guess? People trying to ensure they aren’t part of an ISD.
The only other viable answer I can think of is BRFD coverage and that may not apply if they are in a special tax district for St George.

Fire department districts are not the same as city districts.

Does that mean If my house wasn't part of the annexation (Im still in Baton Rouge), I may still be able to find a path towards annexation?

Every dildo that voted "no" is going to want to be annexed in to BR, like we are going to have 14,000 individual pieces of property resting the in unincorporated area who want to be part of BR city limits

It appears OneBR's plan is to bleed St. George dry through annexations and legal disputes before it's even a real city.

That twat doesn't understand anything. She's one of these people who is so assured of her own righteousness that she will NEVER accept that someone else didn't do what she thought was correct. If she were in an HOA, she's the count that reports you and has the HOA send you a letter because one tiny corner of your barbecue pit is visible from the street. God help you if she's actually on the board.
In other news, she's too fricking stupid to realize that flooding the Metro Council with hundreds of requests for annexation cripples it.

The funny thing about that is their property taxes will immediately increase with the addition of the Cats tax that they are not currently paying.
Their whole campaign against St George was vote no because muh higher taxes.
