They were in an area which voted and they lost.

Want to leave? Got to wait until everything is in place so they can legally separate from the city.

Doing it this way is a sore-loser end-around after they lost an election.

If someone doesn't want to be in St. George why stop them from leaving? Forming a city is was St. George's state constitutional right. Annexing into BR via petition is also their constitutional right.

I agree, I support any grassroot organization that follows the law.

If people want out, and people want in BR; I encourage them to do it. I don't need to vote on it, and they don't need my approval even though it could impact me. It's their business to decide what's best for them.

Didn’t the state pass a law that you weren’t able to do annexations while there was an incorporation attempt in progress? You know, SPECIFICALLY because BR fricked with St George last time around?

I hope so ME Courmier is scum.

look at the map of how precinct by precinct voting went. Almost the entire West and SW portion of St. George voted no with a only a few pockets of yes. It barely won in the first place and it appears all the "fors" were out in the east part of the parish.

That doesn’t take into account early voting. There could have been more votes yes that live in those areas that voted early and not at their regular precinct.

I'm friends with her. She's actually been fighting her HOA because they didn't like the shade of blue she chose to paint her house. She's nothing like you people are portraying her.

Well she certainly comes off as a nosy know-nothing bitch whose argument is basically “You can’t do anything because it would hurt my interests.”

If my property is currently in the St. George Fire District and is annexed into Baton Rouge, which department am I covered by now? If you're in the city limits, there's an additional property tax millage for Baton Rouge Fire - would I pay the tax to both BRFD and St. George Fire, or do the districts automatically change with a change in the city limits?

I thought she used to be President of the HOA but residents kicked her out after she was vocal in the media about St George

54-46 = “barely won” yet SWB winning by a smaller margin (52-48) is a mandate?

Same issue with CATS. If you live in the SG area and get annexed into BR, are you going to have to pay the CATS tax?

That hag lied on camera, saying that if St. George passed it would affect federal flood relief. Her house DID flood, so she knows what that feels like, and STILL tried to play on the fears of the 2016 flood victims. She can rot in hell.

Can I apply to be released by BR and annexed into St George? Our neighborhood does border the St George line.

Yes, you can. And I believe there is a cross effort to do just that.

I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but the woman is a zealot and those types will say and do anything to get their way.

They aren’t smart enough to realize this and/or they are hypocritical bastards doing this because of “frick you, got mine” because their kids are in the EBR magnet program and they don’t want to risk that.

Magnet parents are 90% of the active opposition to St George. Plenty of them are hipsters or pseudo intellectuals. They think they are soo much smarter than "those private school" parents. Pretty much all of them hate Trump and despise conservatives and YES they do think we are all racists. Do not discount them because their efforts are lead by hipster lawyers. Most are doing pro bono work so money is not an object for them to attack.

BR and St George will be meeting up at the Bridge of Spies to trade residents?

St George would get the young families and BR would get the old folks.

Not only that, but they're assuming that the Metro Council is just going to rubber stamp all these annexation requests (assuming they manage to get the signatures they need). That would mean having to extend BRPD coverage - a department that is already woefully short on officers - out to those areas, possibly also BRFD. Will they want to do that knowing that they are already looking down the barrel of a substantially decreased budget? That may be cutting their nose off to spite their face.
