One thing I do know if you have property inside BR you pay for CATS, BRPD, BR constable’s office, and BRFD. Unless you get some back door tax break at this time property inside BR tax wise cost you more.

I'm sure I do pay more. Honestly, we bought this house when my youngest kid was in kindergarten with the idea that she'd go to private school K-12. If we were in St George I'd keep her in private at this point anyway because she's almost in HS.

No big deal to me. I was happy when it passed. I'm from Central and have seen the positive impact on the community that I grew up in.

Black Baton Rouge peeps are so lucky to have you on their side , Sally. You seem to care so much for these “ underprivileged “ people. You aren’t one of those hypocritical white moral nannies that Ladysplains about how whites have failed blacks and we are “Better Together “ while living in a gated community and sending your own kids to private school. Don’t you hate those people , Sally?

Funny I lived in NBR next to my rental properties after I moved back from California. Just gave up as the area a war zone hopefully the Latinos can clean it up.
Sold 22 properties and got out of it.

Never seen helmet head, or the Borden Cow Elise known as ME Cormier, or that red headed thing that looks like a fat border collie helping out in these area. Ask the people that want better in these areas and they want out of BR. I know as I asked them unlike Together BR who meets at a church in mid city thinking their cr&p don’t stink.

I seen first hand how NBR has gone down hill.
No laws are enforced, drug dealers rule the streets, every Friday night you get the 21 gun salute, killing during the middle of the day, and drug overdoses. Guess what there are a few people that care while the number that accepts distinctional life styles is growing. I have seen guys strip a new Toyota down to the blocks with the alarm going off after four hours and two people calling it in to BRPD. No use to BRPD showing up as these guys know it is a waste of time as the judges will let them out in a few days.

Then you get these people to say how is St George is racists. Most have never even lived in NBR and their mommy or daddy gave them a nice lifestyle. Heck most African Americans also Latinos in the hood try to send their kids to charter schools or work two to three jobs to send them to private schools.

I even had a black UPS driver ask me why I stayed in the hood with my money? What was I trying to prove was his next question? I just thought I could live on-site, make some money off my properties, and not have it shot up during drug wars.

BR is broken and it is amazing people that call people like me racist never been to the hood in BR.

I just sold my places in St George also and voted for St George. Wish the people in the area the best of luck on trying to have a nice community where middle class people of all races will want to live.

BR has a long way to go as the blighted areas are creeping up on the middle class areas way too fast.

Here is their problem, people can also do the same, who aren't in st.george, or right outside it, correct???

Looks like St.George people are getting a lot of requests from those who didnt make the map, how to annex their homes.

Those should be straight-forward depending on the area and how contiguous they are to St George.

The real fun will begin as people start trying to get released from BR to join St George, at which point the TBR crew really CAN whine about people leaving.

Sadly there's people in my neighborhood
(Westminster) wanting to annex into BR but it seems like they are few

Old people or parents with kids in the magnet program?

Because that seems to be the two main groups wanting to do so at this point.

Sounds like I might need to consider doing a website in BR.

Not 100% sure but the girl seems like she has kids in the magnet program. On Nextdoor she has been very pro BRAC which obviously wants as much money in BR as possible

The old lady across the street from me did come over before the election to warn about higher taxes she would get if we voted for St George too. Better Together did a really good job of targeting certain groups that can't seem to look up or get info for themselves. I couldn't compete against a flyer that told the old lady her taxes would go up with no info to back that up

Isn’t the issue for most NO voters the fact they don’t want to be incorporated anywhere? Why would someone want to leave St George and BECOME part of Baton Rouge?

I don’t get any No vote that was concerned about taxes wanting to be annexed by BR. Even this Cormier has to lie and say she will check with city-parish on these questions because their tax argument was taxes will go up if you go from unincorporated to incorporated which includes the incorporated BR. You call yourself One Baton Rouge but don’t have a clue about taxes and services effecting areas becoming part of One Baton Rouge. One Baton Rouge was never their goal, and it should be even clearer than it was before.

One Baton Rouge? One Bank Account, more likely.

I was told earlier today there was no way in hell StG could make it with their tax base and they should come back to the fold.

The old people really fricked this vote up. You can tell them the sky is purple and they’ll believe every word of it. They’re incredible gullible and almost tanked StG.

OneBR knew exactly who the dumbest groups were and almost pulled it off.

I don’t know who ME Cormier is but she’s really ugly so it makes sense that she’s a rabid liberal activist.

Lol...

So, St George won’t be losing $32m or more a year for services to BRPD and BRFD they don’t receive, yet they will be unable to cover their costs.

Math isn’t their strong suit because they are either stupid or, more likely, liars.

Oh these are guys that have made there living off govt., one dismissed the school issue. He’s never been married, no kids and educated overseas. Absolutely no clue what EBR schools are like, just shameful.

Someone let me know if the below scenario is correct.

Woodland Ridge subdivision de-annexes from Baton Rouge and joins St. George.

Taxes they would no longer pay:
12.9 mills - BR City taxes
10.6 mills - Cats tax
Total is 23.5 mills.

New Tax:
St George Fire Dept- 16 mills

This subdivision would lower their taxes by 7.5 mills.

They are already contiguous to the St George boundary. Since Ms Cormier wants to petition other neighborhoods, I think it’s time to petition hers. Seems like an easy sell right?

They would also lower their per capita chance of being shot by a lot. If that’s the kind of thing that matters to her type.

Ahh. The old, "Worst of the worst status quo is better than the unknown arguement."
Classic.
