But M.E. Cormier, president of the Woodland Ridge Homeowners’ Association, says neighbors are not done opposing the project and will regroup after the holidays to figure out their next move. “We’re not going away,” she says. “We’re going to continue to vehemently protect our properties.”
This B cannot sleep unless she gets involved in everyone's business. That's all she knows how to do.

Apparently there was a coup after she decided to take on St George.
and then they came after her for the color of her house

But the white families have the means in that subdivision to put their kid in private school. That is exactly what happened in the late eighties with the busing. Private school or Liv/Asc parish is where they went.

Apparently M.E. Goes to all the monthly special dinners at Sullivan’s Steakhouse. I debating leaving early from work for the next one and getting the table right next to her while wearing a big ole StG pin...then proceed to talk about how great the new city will be all night long

I wonder why she doesn't go to Bella Noche? White privilege?

Apparently goes there too (definitely was not on his dime) to celebrate being on the ballot...which he got crushed in.
That’s not exactly an endorsement for the restaurant though

She probably complains about parking, service, food temp., condition of restrooms, etc.

Care to give some examples of your efforts, or the efforts of the st. George leaders, to generate awareness and support in those underprivileged areas?
Would love to be proven wrong and hear some stories, dare I say a link to a report, about reaching out to leaders within those communities. "They didn't sign the petition" just comes off as a weak attempt to make it seem like there was nothing you could do.

The HOA is promoting having Episcopal right in center of neighborhood not an EBR school. Isn’t this actual neighborhood of HOA already in BR? She seems to talk almost like she is part of a neighborhood in StG.

Yeah we are just inside of the BR city limits.

She is in BR and not in SG. IMHO She opposes SG for selfish reasons.
I’d give her more respect if she were in SG, or if she had advocated BR trying to annex subdivisions back before the SG drives to incorporate started.
She’s recklessly out there now trying to get folks to join BR, but she doesn’t even know what the ramifications are. It appears to be all about payback as she tries to hurt SG as best she can.

I'm not sure if she's worried about her property value, has kids in a BR magnet program or what?

If she had magnet children there would be no impact.
Her property flooded. Her property value may have been a concern, but now I wouldn’t think there’s much she can do to keep it up now.

Isn’t the issue for most NO voters the fact they don’t want to be incorporated anywhere? Why would someone want to leave St George and BECOME part of Baton Rouge?

For now I guess but if St George gets their own schools I'd imagine that won't be the case? They won't be paying for them.

One thing I do know if you have property inside BR you pay for CATS, BRPD, BR constable’s office, and BRFD. Unless you get some back door tax break at this time property inside BR tax wise cost you more.

No. I don’t live in StG. I am just a supporter of StG even co-owning a house in Baton Rouge. I think it’s what’s best for area. It’s funny how you think StG incorporating has to spend so much effort trying to sell to underprivileged while ignoring BR never tries to sell being annexed or if they want to incorporate with either (do you feel they are too ignorant to have opinions). Do you know how close spots of BR are to Gardere on both sides and have you seen the ways BR has drawn lines to & around the Mall of Louisiana, Siegan Shopping area, and that neighborhood off Coursey in 2014 when they want something?
It’s just takes a little thinking outside of race card box to figure out if original boundaries were going to pass they needed every vote they could squeeze out of Gardere. The city (or supported it just like it does TBR) challenged the signatures to not let it get on the ballot not StG supporters. You keep bypassing that supporters actually included it first time and outside of some questionable decisions on challenge signatures by those opposed to StG would have been voting Yes to it being a part of StG.
It also pretty easy know from a state away that with race card being used in Baton Rouge and other tactics that if an area due is even unwilling to sign off on a vote they will be even less likely to actually vote yes for it. Only those opposed would try and guilt people into including areas that overwhelmingly opposed StG in next attempt. I am also sure like someone mentioned same people would claim they are just trying to use and/or marginalize blacks by including them in first place.
Why don’t you ask TBR & city of BR what they are doing to gain support to annex Gardere into BR? That’s a better question, and one someone without bias would be asking and holding both areas to same standard. Best one would be to first ask Gardere what it wants, so far it’s pretty obvious and with some documentation that residents didn’t want to be a part of StG. Whether they want to be part of BR I haven’t seen same obvious answer one way or the other.
