So I went through my grandfather’s WW2 stuff. Looked at his medals and foreign currency. Wondering what’s the best way to get some of it looked at?

No idea on the appraisal but your GF saw action in the European and Pacific theaters? Wow, bad arse.

My grandfather had a collection of coins from his time in WWII. I grabbed one of the biggest coins when I was little and asked how much it was worth. He said that right there is a leaveitright. I said a leaveitright? He said yeah, leave it right there cuz it ain’t worth shite

I’m not an expert in foreign currency, let me go call my buddy.

Did this with my Grandfathers WWII stuff a decade ago. The bad news is that most are virtually worthless in terms of dollars. Inflation and unemployment was so high in the war zones that they just printed money. The only ones of any real value are in pristine uncirculated condition and are graded. The cost of grading costs more than the bills are worth in most cases.

<——Coin Collector since the ‘70s
The numismatic value of the pictured coins & notes is very small.
The sentimental value for any of his descendants is much higher.
Thanks for his service and put those items away in a safe place, there are very few items that can better bring historical context to his offspring of his place & time than items like that.

No offense, but don’t expect a big payday. Honestly, I’d just hang on to them for the sentimental value.

I wouldn’t expect them to be worth much. I never thought I’d say this, but these items aren’t that old

The Nazi money looks really neat

Google.
Not what it is lists for on Ebay, but what auctions are closing at.
Paper money is not worth as much as silver.
Right now, silver might not be worth much more than spot price.
Total value of pictured currency is less than $5.

I’m not gonna sell them. I just thought it be cool to see if there was any value and what’s the easiest way to go about it.

I’ve got shoeboxes full of foreign currency meticulously catalogued from my wife’s grandfather and I can tell you, it’s fun to look at, but it’s not worth shite.

That's the kind of stuff along with his service records and discharge papers that would look great in an office framed and properly matted.
I have a friend whose stepmom had all of his father's stuff from Vietnam framed and hung in his office. It's striking when you walk in and "HOLY shite, that's a bronze star with a "V" and a DFC!" and the citation is sitting there below the actual decoration. It's way better than stuff like that just sitting in a box somewhere, forgotten.

It is fricking priceless. Keep it in your family forever. Document as much about it as you can.

It says how much it’s worth right on the currency. What are you talking about appraised. If someone brought a dollar in to get appraised, they’d tell them it’s worth a dollar but would give them .80 for it.
