The Jura will grind just the amount needed for one cup.

That's my favorite thing about my Jura. A bag of beans lasts me a LOT longer than it did with the drip coffee maker.

Buy some reusable K-Cups on Amazon and then just add your own coffee.

I've been doing that for years. Saves me money, and I get fresh ground coffee in my K-Cup every morning.

Thanks I didn't know this existed.

I have had a Cuisinart w/grinder and love it. I have had it for over 10 yrs (used every day) and it has served me well but Cuisinart may have discontinued it as I can't find it online- although it looks like they do have similar replacement models, like the one pictured below ($130 on Amazon. I highly suggest getting one with a stainless carafe instead of glass.

I didn’t realize you could get them that cheap with a grinder. Looks like a good buy

Technivorm Moccamaster

Thought about it, but I installed an instant hot water tank under my sink and grabbed a French press. So I have essentially boiling water at the turn of a handle with no warm-up time.

Next up: a nice grinder

Readyhot

Digital display wasn’t a must for me as much as how attractive the actual faucet was compared to insinkerator for 1/3 the price. Some of their taps are beautiful, but they can run $400 alone, and their cheap ones did not pass the wife test.

I also installed a chiller on the cold water side, and you should filter or RO all water flowing into these things. But I have filtered 42 degree or 210 degree water out of either side of the tap. There are “hot only” taps as well if you prefer. My fridge is stupid, and the water tap is inside the door and requires two hands to use, so this is what I did.
Also, the hot taps are almost universally childproof in case anyone reading was thinking about how dangerous this is.

ETA- link redirects to the manual dial. I did buy the digital dial with hot/cold faucet in brushed nickel.

We used to be all French press, but when the kids got here, it just got to be too much of a hassle.

Got this about a year ago: LINK

Been happy with it, zero issues at all. Makes a good cup of coffee, easy to clean, easy to program. Nice to have a hot pot of coffee waiting when our circus of a house gets going in the morning (2 young kids).

Chemex pour over, OXO Burr grinder, and an electric goose neck kettle. Make sure you get some fresh roasted beans. Will be the best cup of coffee you ever had.

This, but add an insulated carafe for after. And an electric kettle that does multi temps, not just boiling.

I would NEVER have bought it for myself, but was gifted this plus a 'nice' coffee subscription. Though it's a bit of an inconvenience to make, the difference in the finished product has my Mr. Coffee 12-cup now living in exile in the cabinet.

So, your wife wants to pay more money for essentially the same thing. How woman of her.

There isn’t a drip coffee maker out there that can beat a French Press. Not even close.

I have the keurig that makes a pot of coffee and also the pods.

Also have a French press and stove top percolator.

I like coffee in general so I’m not picky - the keurig was a gift and I like it. I’ll buy the pods occasionally, but I make a pot everyday. To me it’s the coffee you buy, not so much the coffee maker.

(I do make pretty good coffee, came as a requirement with my BA in philosophy)

I just don't understand where the cult of pour over people have the time every morning. No thanks I'll take a step back in quality to have my caffeine ready as soon as I wake up

Bonavita 8-cup ($150) is a great choice in this range. A step up from the standard drip machine. If you’re only making 25oz of coffee or less, the 5-cup ($99) is great as well. I have the 5-cup. My dad has a Technivorm Moccamaster that consistently makes better coffee IMO but will run you around $300

Ditto this! These are the best two options, just stop
your search with these. I have the bonavita & it’s been excellent. It’s reasonably priced & most importantly consistently heats water to the gold cup standard. It even sprays water on grounds to let them “bloom” before brewing cycle. The technivorm doesn’t even do that. When my bonavita wears out, I’ll invest in technivorm moccamaster.
You should also invest in good Burr Grinder. These can get pricey too, but I have the Baratza encore & its been great.
French press & chemex pour-overs are fantastic as well , but I reserve those for weekend. When I’m in a hurry I also have good Nespresso Virtuo machine which is the best pod maker on market IMO. Most Keurig products suck.

So now I can catalog the coffee.

Totally understandable... this would have been a horrible gift for me 10 years ago lifestyle-wise. Though I genuinely enjoy the pour-over coffee, I still drink shitty pre-ground Folgers in a 12-cup maker all day at work and enjoy it too.
