Be a valve job and I didn’t want that on a new car.

Father in law is a master mechanic and owns a pretty big repair shop said to never under any circumstances buy a Mazda.

Simply based on that, I'd never consider one, regardless of the price. They don't look too bad though.

I can't speak for the latest models, but I have a 2011 Mazda CX-9 about to hit 300k. It is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. The only major repair I've had to do is to replace a single wheel bearing.

Also, AWD is not standard on CX-5's.

It is the only option on 2022 and later models. But not in 2021.

Lots of similarities between the CX5 and the CX50. Both have same engine and transmission. But CX5 is made in Japan and in my book, that's a big part of the equation.

Close competitor is Tiguan R Line Black but it's 8k more than a Carbon.

2023-2025 have been very reliable;

Reliability isn’t determined for 5-10 years and 100k + miles, most cars don’t have any issues in the first 3 years.

Eh, they were ranked 14th in reliability on the latest consumer reports. Not the bottom of the barrel, but not close to the top. Not a strong tide there.

Yea I mean I'm not tryin to say that you won't ever see a Mazda last. My niece is looking for a new car and has a Mazda with almost 200k on it. I was just stating what he said and he's certainly someone I'd trust. He said to avoid the "M's" in general, Mazda, Mercedes, and Mitsubishi.

Glad yours has help up well for you

In most years Mazda usually is ranked toward the top.

Honda something

The ones built in Ohio are on a par with their Japanese vehicles.

Pass on Mazda, not bad but not Honda.

Made in Japan, AWD is standard, 2.5 with actual transmission.

Mazda bought the rights to the Ford transmission and have improved the mounting hardware and casting with the valve bodies. A great selling point is that it has a timing chain and not a timing belt.

Yeah….maybe Mazda’s in the past but not the recent CX-5’s. All ranked incredibly high with reliability & can’t beat that it’s Japanese-built. We bought one for our Daughter. proven 4cylinder engine, simple transmission, great MPG, & looks really nice.

Honda sucks & is the most boring car make out there now. They have no balls to make anything interesting. All interiors look exactly the same across all car makes, CVT transmissions, etc.

Had a Mazda 626 years ago and they were very proud of their parts. Costliest repairs of any car I have ever owned.
