This isn't true by the way. Sure, you have less of the "Oh Hi Ya'll, how's your mom and them" stuff up North, but a lot of that in the South is fake. Northerners are probably slightly less "open" than Southerners but aren't any less nice.

Can you legally transport roofies across state lines or do you have a local supplier?

This notion that Louisiana has a low cost of living is wrong too. We have the highest car insurance, highest sales tax, way overpriced home values considering the average income, and worst public schools. If you want your kids to have a decent education you'll have to spend another $5000-$10,000 a year per kid.

Not here to argue. But if Louisiana is so bad why do you stay here? Must be something keeping you here.

It is heavily biased toward caucasians.

Really doubt they are happier in the south.

This is something that kills me about Louisiana. Y'all pay a shitload for your kids' education after paying taxes for public schools.

Alabama might have a ridiculous amount of shitty public schools throughout the state, but any middle class American that could afford $5k-$10k/kid for private school could afford the Vestavias, Hoovers, and Homewoods of the state that provide a great public education.

But all the Louisiana pumpers on here tell me Louisiana is the best state.

Not really.

We're simply the happiest from 75 miles north of i10 on down.

As a people, we aren't the type to let anything get us down.

When I travel up north I'm always amazed by how nice the service is at convenience stores and restaurants, while at the same time being cold and clinical.

Everyone from habib to Jamaal will at least smile and give you a good morning down here. That alone is worth a lot.

I’m back in school. As soon as I am done, we are gone. I grew up here and didn’t really see the state’s shortcomings until after I left. At 19, I thought Louisiana was the shite. I thought this State was amazing and there was nowhere else like it; like many others who have never left, I suppose. The people are great, but after living all over the country and the world, Louisiana is one of the crappiest places I’ve been.

Sure, New Orleans can be fun if you don’t die. BR for the occasional LSU game is really cool and unique, but it’s not really enough to offset all the bad for me. The cost of living isn’t low enough to justify the ridiculously low wages. The lack of economy and the state’s refusal to explore other economic opportunities is just disheartening. The requirement to put your kid in a charter or private school because the public schools are so bad, is just ridiculous. Like I said, good people, but not nearly enough to offset all the bad. I came back here to be closer to family, and use the rest of my GI Bill but we realized we made a mistake in coming back to Louisiana.

Most are probably like us and would send their kids to private school regardless of the level of the public system.

Hell, do they even have Sonic up in yankee land? Probably have to take it to a Dunkin', if they even have parking lots.
