as hurricanes go Beryl is actually quite small. Also remember the core where the most damaging winds are located is also much smaller than the overall extent of cloud coverage associated with the storm.

Getting 300k from New Orleans to Houston with buses, planes, and 6 lanes of highway is a monumental task.


Getting 3 million off an island with limited resources in an even shorter amount of time is virtually impossible. Godspeed to most those 3 million, it’s going to be a rough ride.

But for reference, when a storm hits an Island, the locals usually head up to the mountains for their type of evacuation. It's not like they can get into a car and drive to Texas..
