it fricking sucked. Hot as balls and parked all day on the interstate.

truly bizarre to see Houston so empty after we turned around and made it back home 36 or so hours later.

The NWS has come a long way so we will have more time if something worth leaving does come our way.

A million people tried to evacuate Houston and they got nothing

I stayed in Houston for Ike. Watched it from roof of parking garage then drove to Austin to hang out with Rummel

it was pretty dumb in hindsight but Houston was sheltering Katrina refugees and the media had been nothing but horror stories from New Orleans for 3 weeks.

Cat 5 two days out with the NWS showing it riding the ship channel was going to freak people out.

Now imagine it today with hundreds of EV's that ran out of charge (while sitting still with the AC on).

That would be an even worse cluster.

Oh well. As the protector of his family, he made the right call. If she disagrees tough cookies. And I say that as a wife who would likely be pissed but hopefully I’d understand.

And they can go back so ..

the eye doesn't look like it's going to go over jamaica, good for jamaica, that does mean that the land mass isn't going to affect it as much which could trend toward it being stronger as it crosses into the western caribbean, the models that show it stronger in the western caribbean trend it more toward the north

needless to say the HWRF can go frick itself

If they left AC on then yes. But otherwise, it’s my understanding the Tesla range doesn’t change. It’s not like a gas car idling. AC would drain battery.
I’ve ridden in a Tesla once (Uber) and got a lesson on the car.

The 12Z HWFI not only has the most northern path but it also has Beryl doing GOM strengthening after crossing the Yucatan and going from TS to Cat 3!

Okay, so sit in or on your Tesla while in the parking lot called I-10 for hours in 95 degree heat with 80 percent humidity for hours without running the AC. Got it.

I have a Toyota. Tesla’s are cool (no pun intended) but I’d probably not buy one.

If more people drive an EV it wouldn’t be so hot
