Yeah, I don't think Fort Bend got a lot of that system. Ouch.

Though that derecho through Houston was pretty localized. The weather wasn't bad to the south and west of the city. Namely Fort Bend which looks to take Beryl in the chops.

While this is true, there was another really bad one a week or two later that barreled through the Katy/Sugar Land area. It just didn’t get attention because it didn’t impact downtown.

That's true. A big reason why power outages weren't as bad as they could have been in Louisiana during the 2021 ice storm is because Hurricane Laura and Delta cleaned the state out of its old trees. The strongest trees are left and they withstand the next storm better.

There also wasn’t much ice for that either. at least in Houston

The derecho was the first big tree breaker in a long time. Lot of weak trees post freeze and drought

I was talking about Louisiana as a reference that storms will clean out old and dead trees for the next storm.

Slowly organizing. Looks like it might be trying to close off a rather large eye? That might also work to keep any future intensification in check. Conditions still look favorable for additional intensification, but luckily, it has really struggled to organize after the trip across the Yucatán.

On water vapor imagery dry air is really wrapping around the entire system. I doubt it's going to be able to fight off all of that dry air before landfall.

As a result the rain is really concentrated around the center.
