Being forced to provide a service

Reading the lesbian cake thread had me thinking. As I said earlier I don't think you should be able to force someone to provide a service. Why a business owner would forgo business simply for personal beliefs shows some serious conviction, but also why would you as a customer want to support a business that is opposed to who you are is also confusing to me.
My big question tho is, a lot of you are opposed to forcing the shop owner to make the cake simply because they should have the freedom to choose. I have gone back and forth myself on this issue because it makes me think, what if they refused service simply because someone is a different race? Obviously thats illegal under current civil rights laws but where do we draw the line on who you are forced to provide service to (ie. all races) and who you aren't (ie. all sexualities).

Salmon are you saying a shop owner should be able to refuse everybody or be forced to provide the service for everyone who walked in the door?

Then why would you want to spend your money at a place like this? Just go somewhere else and let bigots be bigots.

there are 1000 other places to do business with.
no one should EVER be forced to provide a service or function against their will for any reason.
the ONLY thing the government or local law should be allowed to be involved in forcing people to do is pay taxes and follow the law

Just to be clear, it is the board’s opinion that restaurants should be able to refuse service to people based on their race? Hotels? Theaters, unless we have separate sections for each race?

Yes
Well, it is my opinion
Why shouldn't they?
Do you honestly believe it would be a problem in today's society?

My opinion as well.

I'm in the same boat.
Let's say I have a lawn service (I cut grass). My neighbor, Jose, decides one day that he is tired of cutting his own grass. He walks up to me while I'm drinking my beer and wants me to cut his grass, and he will pay me my standard rate. Am I not legally allowed to turn down his business?

The fact that these two dykes got the government involved in an issue this petty just shows you the state we're in as a country.

I guess that means if I go up to a Black lesbian baker and demand she make a cake of some Klansmen beating up a bunch of dykes, she has to do it, right?
