"Somewhere's else" could be more expensive;
"Somewhere's else" could not have as quality a product;
"Somewhere's else" could be further away;

"Somewhere's else" could have less convenient operating hours, could take longer to provide a product or service, or could have poor service.
But besides that, this is America. If you want to live somewhere that can arbitrarily refuse service to customers because of their race, religion, or sexual orientation, then go there. I hear Liberia is great in the fall. Russia, North Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia .. such varied landscapes.

If I were dropped on my head enough as a child I could probably come up with an equally stupid list of reasons why smoking pot isn't a victimless crime.

See that doesn't work, the line isn't at about who you can and can't serve.
The line is what happens if all the bakeries and grocery stores and so and so in a neighborhood, a town, a city, a state say no blacks, or no whites, or no yellows, or no heteros, or no gays, or no christians, or no jews , or no muslims and so on and so on.
And you say that's preposterous, and you say that's unreasonable. But you know what, every time there is a thread about this there's at least 3/4 of y'all looking for ways to not let someone purchase something.
So the reason "big" government has to be involved at all is you can't even be civilized to your goddamn neighbor unless Uncle Sam in some way or another is looking over your goddamn shoulder.

If you don’t want to comply just say you are booked that weekend and give them crappy dates that you have available to bake cakes, etc.
Someone pisses me my service centers off we just say we are booked until x days and cannot take anymore units on until this date. We will put you on a waiting list and call you when we can accept units.

The travesty in the cake case is the 135,000 judgment. Someone not baking you a cake should be a 1000 or so. If you compare the judgment to OSHA fines where someone has actually sustained physical injuries or workers comp lump sum payments for specific injuries such as losing

It isn't. You could lose an eye in Oregon due to an on the job injury and not recover that much.
Being offended isn't worth $135,000 - even if they said "I'm not making a cake for your fig."
I've benefited from large damage awards for someone having hurt feelings, but it is still a crock.
