A lot of our poor grandparents did. Mine did.

My great grandparents (on my dad's side) were dirt poor sharecroppers from Georgia (but it was tobacco farms).

They were as close to being a slave without being a slave and live in a tiny house with dirt floors, a community out house, they whole 9 yards. If I ever see a tobacco crop I will probably be traumatized.

more than enough. A few of them can be nervous about parts of certain road trips, not many. none of them are sitting there weeping at every passing cotton field.

So he's freaked out by cotton fields and trees.. what a pussy. I guess there's no expiration date on that victim card.

I’m not saying you’re lying about friends having these conversations, but I’m saying they are incorrect for having this feeling. The Klan and posse’s and lunch mobs just don’t exist anymore.

Guy is full of shite.

He's just writing a bunch of garbage his dumbass thinks sounds good. He's not really "scared" driving anywhere, except maybe where somebody might have an ACTUAL beef with him.

I could say the same thing about driving thru certain parts of certain cities. For example, when our family was doing cross country road trips we wouldn't stop in/near St. Louis until we made it to Shiloh, Il. In fact, after our last trip we intentionally detoured AROUND that city...

Are cotton fields a trigger for black people? Plenty of black people with land grow cotton. Especially in Texas.

Anyone who voluntarily says they used science and data to conduct a study most likely didn’t use either.

It's incredible that there are people so stupid that they think growing cotton should no longer happen because of black people.

To be fair, there are areas that white people are scared to go into because its an all black area, and there is no other reason to be scared to go in that area.

There are all black areas I go through where I live because its quicker to get to where I am going and I have had people with me who have asked "why are you going this way?" I tell them because its quicker and they are like "yeah but you have to go through the hood". I'll be in the grocery store or around town and every once in awhile a black person will come up to me and ask "you always pass down ______ st huh?" I tell them yeah that's me and the response is always something along the lines of "yeah I see you. You always wave. I am always outside over by __________. Stop by anytime".

I know someone will say I am making shite up.. whatever, but I am dead serious. If you pass an area and see a black person on a regular basis don't not wave (when I say wave, I mean it can be the nod of the head, a quick throw up of the hand, just acknowledge). The difference between waving and not waving. If you wave and you are in a position where you might need something, they (in general) will go out of their way to help you.
