I realize Belichick has “frick you” money and it doesn’t really matter if he gets fired, but as someone who spent 20 years in coaching, perception plays a part in job security when you’re losing. Even if the results wouldn’t be any better, it’s good if the fans and PTB at least *think* you’re working your arse off 24/7 instead of going to Nantucket and cheer competitions with a 24 y/o girlfriend.
Or in the high school world: Being at your 10-year-old son’s Saturday basketball game is one thing. But pictures of you on a weekend fishing trip with your bros in the middle of the season while you’re getting your arse kicked every Friday… maybe not a good idea.
