I have no idea why Louisiana can’t get its shite together to at least be comparable to Houston/Dallas with very similar resources plus access to the gulf and the MS river.
Too many of Louisiana's best and brightest have left the state over the last 40 years.

There’s absolutely no excuses for the state to be as shitty as it is

Demography (from prefix demo - from Ancient Greek demos meaning "the people", and -graphy from grapho, implies "writing, description or measurement") is the statistical study of populations, especially human beings. As a very general science, it can analyze any kind of dynamic living population, i.e., one that changes over time or space (see population dynamics). Demography encompasses the study of the size, structure, and distribution of these populations, and spatial or temporal changes in them in response to birth, migration, aging, and death.
Demographics are quantifiable characteristics of a given population.

Flat, humid, congested, commercial and full of Texans. What's not to like about Houston? You guys can have it.
Will do. Must be tight looking at and driving up boring, small hills, paying an absurd amount to live, and living in the middle of a liberal Nashville circle jerk!

Harris County is a Democrat stronghold. Republicans didn't win a single election there this month.

Life in the big city. At least we aren't Austin or Nashville.

Our eldest and her family live in Keller (Fort Worth) and have a nice lifestyle but would return to Houston yesterday

It won't be much different ultimately. I'm not shitting on Houston either but it's becoming a far left city.
I'm just not a big city guy anymore in my 40s. Visiting one for a few days is enough for me. I feel most at home in a place like Bozeman, Montana or Asheville, NC. BR is too big for my tastes

People who bitch and moan about Houston are just miserable people who probably have a shittey job in BR or NOLA because they got a general business degree from ULL or LSU and can't find jobs elsewhere.
This one hurt man

Same here, done my city living. 100k is more than enough

OP seems proud of himself for moving away

It’s all subjective to what you prefer. I have a good friend in the Houston area who is dying to move back.

I have lived in New Orleans, BR, Mandeville, and The Woodlands. Houston and it's suburbs make Louisiana seem like a third world country, period.
Now just wait until you live in a GOOD city!

Houston is okay. Coming from any city in Louisiana, it probably seems great. Compared to other big cities across the US, it’s nothing special.

New Orleans is special, doesn't mean it's a great place to live.

Look no further than the Louisiana legislature and Governor’s Mansion.

Houston isn’t the Metroplex. That’s a term for DFW.
