Right there with you on metro Houston. Great place to start a career and a family. La is a cool place to visit but not to live forever. Houston keeps getting better and better while La keeps getting worse and worse. The comparison is ridiculous. La people who hate on Texas are in denial about how good Texas is and how bad La actually is.

Tried posting numerous times to educate people but keeps falling on deaf ears

Only a few believe the schools are better than Louisiana.

Nobody believe electric is cheaper

Few believe car insurance is cheaper

Nola music and food.

What is it you think people in Houston do for sustenance? Houston has an insane amount of options for ethnic foods of virtually all types.

mean, agreed. With any city, if you can’t find something to do then you don’t want to do anything. But I like those extra things. People will shite on Disney, but living in Florida, 2 annual passes are less than cable. I love in biking distance of the parks, so that’s essentially a no brainer. We can pop in for a few hours, and then head to the beach in the same day.

Yeah, I like Disney and the beach too. Definitely would be a cool place to live for me. I question the sanity of people who’d rather live in places like BR or Alexandria or Shreveport over Houston, but I can understand Florida.

Nola people think they’re the only ones with food and pretend to listen to local jazz all the time.

People act like Nola has so much more culture than Houston. Y’all do know that Houston is much more culturally diverse than New Orleans? It’s an international city. There’s way more culture and variety there. People making a case for Nola are delusional. That place blows

In Houston you can actually find places that know how to season food with something other than Tonys.

If you are any good, you don't have to move to get a really good job.

This is extremely inaccurate. If you want to work in investment banking, you have to start your career in NYC. If you want to do anything other than be a small town “jack of all trades” lawyer, you have to live in one of the top 10-15 cities in the country or scrape for opportunities in 16-40. If you want to do medical research, you have to be at one of 15/20 teaching hospitals, the smallest of which is located in Durham, NC. For tech, the vast majority of jobs are places like the Bay Area, Seattle, or Santa Monica. I think New York has some, too.

And if you want work for a Fortune 500 company, the headquarters are where the vast majority will start out.

I agree it all depends on occupation. But OP seems to generalize that everybody in LA has shitty jobs. Not true. You can make good living. As a good software engineer you can work from home and make CA salary
