Thank you for the rest of the response. I do appreciate your clarification. In regards to this specific part I'd like to push you for some additional discussion.

Would you go so far as to say that The Advocate is participating-tacitly, passive-aggressively, or otherwise-in an attempt to intimidate a public official based on their personally held political beliefs or choices?

If so...are you ambivalent about this?

The Advocate has given anyone who is anybody to speak out against SG.

They have let obviously falsehoods be printed multiple times as if it's the truth. For instance the City of SG is breaking away from BR, it's not.

They also didn't cover at all the extent to which the last registrar went to throw out legitimate signatures the first go round.

This to me is the dumbest thing. BR has chosen to not incorporate that area, but they also won't let it become it's own city. It's literally holding that area hostage for its tax dollars.

Correct. I was just pointing out that there wasn't any nefarious activity on the part of the Advocate.

The advocate knew exactly what there were doing. They redacted the date of birth, which is on the public record. They could have easily done the same with the address. Out of the thousands of signatures, they highlight just two. I really feel for the female who signed above the school board member. The advocate posts her shite also, so any potential crazies can harass her as well. I hope she doesnt have kids that live at that address.

fricking Advocate. I bet that reporter who wrote that article would not want his address posted

$$$

And the potential loss thereof.

Baton Rouge wants all that St. George money without any St. George input. Plain and simple.

I agree that The Advocate is complicit in this, and is using it in their agenda against SG; however, let me clear some things up. The photo wasn't submitted by Cormier, but she did take it (and other "notable" signatures) - so The Advocate claims. The Registrar of voters is the one who redacted the birthday in the copy that Cormier received. I also agree that The Advocate should have blurred out the other signature and also Dyason's address.

I love how Cormier says she only took the picture she did not send it to the advocate. Come on, own your nefarious ways if you are going to be a botch. You absolutely had it sent to the advocate or you asked someone at the advocate to ask you about it. How stupid do you think people are? You are combing through the voter roles taking pictures for no reason?

I suppose given that I know how slanted they can be on this issue and other similar items. I don't think it's the right or fair thing to do. So when you stand up for something you believe in and speak in a manner that is public record (petition, council meeting, social media, etc.) be prepared for the dissent to occur...even if that dissent is disgraceful.

I agree with you that no one will be in trouble over this as was previously stated; however, on this latest petition drive effort, the tactics used by the opposition have seemed to backfire on them more often than not.

St. George just needs to sit back and watch Broome and friends hand the votes to them.

Together BR is an organization of deadbeats who just want to further mooch off the unincorporated areas. They utilize the left's favorite tactics to demonize opposition - make shite up and call them racist.

I signed the petition.

Two years ago and the current effort.

And I've voted for Ms Dyason each time she has run for her current School Board position.

And if she runs for the St. George ISD when it is finally allowed, I'll probably vote for her then too.

And Trump is my President.

It's embarrassing that they put this lady, her photo, and personal information on the front page of the Advocate today. Shame on the Advocate/Together BR conglomerate.

Addresses are public information. You can search the tax roll. Nobody ever seemed worried about the old phone books.

While true, I seem to remember that you could opt out of being included in phone books.

Not to mention this situation is posting name, address, and public position for a person concerning a hotly debated topic. Public records still require EFFORT to search. That effort is gone when published in such a fashion. Combine that with the topic at hand, and someone might now have motivation to seek this person out at their home where that motivation was completely absent before.
