This is no brainer.
Way too long.
What are you waiting for.

Thanks man! I actually have some friends that live in Frisco and Prosper. All of them tell me to pack up today. We are heading up there Labor Day weekend to visit the area.

I lived in Baton Rouge the majority of my life. You are stupid if you don’t think it’s a shithole compared to north Texas and I love Louisiana. More than 50% of Baton Rouge is unlivable unless you like to be murdered. There is no downtown. The flagship university of the state had an abduction, attempted abduction, and an armed robbery the first week of class. It has the 3rd worst mayor in the country behind Chicago and Nola. The police chief is inept and simply collecting a paycheck.

i grew up in plano. our family farm on moms side was all the land inside coit, park, independence and 15th. dads family had 16 acres northwest corner of 15th and 75. plano to me has turned. would never go back. frisco to me seems like it will be ghetto soon. my kids and their families live in argyle. for me it would be lindsay or muenster.

I hate Dallas! That said, it's by far superior to Baton Rouge.

We are in rockwall… much better than north Dallas!

Frisco/Prosper is just shitty, genetic burbs but those types of people seem to like that. But is it better then BR? Probably

A lot of us have, we've just lived in other places to know that there's a thousand other places with a better standard of living. I've noticed a lot of people who are defensive about Baton Rouge or New Orleans are typically people who have never left.
This. Lived in both, left and seen how great it is elsewhere.

Going to be interesting to see how much the Texas hill country grows with work from home and remote jobs leading the way to the future.
For years it’s always been Dallas or Houston for jobs and living.
I think areas like Kerrville, Boerne, canyon lake and others are going to see noticeable growth in the next 5-7 years.

Lived in BR for 3 years after I left active duty. Had to move to the Metroplex in 2002 for work. Ended up in Southlake, put 3 kids through the school system. Fantasize about moving back some day because we love Louisiana and LSU, but 2 hours back home in Louisana and you realize that you truly can't go home.
I'll never stop loving it, I just don't know if I can live there any more. Even with the bad things that go with the Metroplex (generic, cookie cutter, faux Texana) there is so much more here. MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA, MLS, WNBA, minor league ball, big time college games, art, music, theater, food, international airline travel. What are you into?
Southlake is also sticking with the single HS model for now at least and there is a downside. I have kids who would be ideal military academy candidates in BR. They make my HS resume look like amateur hour. Here they don't stand out. My oldest was asked how many varsity football letters he earned and whether he was the team captain. Sorry, this place is a D1 factory and he wasn't able to beat out Greg McElroy for the Captain spot. We have several friends who have pulled their kids out and moved out to Argyle etc (3A/4A) to have an opportunity to play and build their resumes, athletic or academic. Depends on what you're looking for.

We also built in West Frisco a little over 9 years ago. House is now worth almost 3x what we paid for it. We really like it up here and plan on staying till all kids finish high school. Then we will move. Too congested. Also one warning I will give anyone is that most of the schools are now over 50% Indian. Frisco was blessed holy land from India and they are moving here in droves. My daughter is basically straight As and will finish in the middle half of class, at best.
I would consider Celina or Gunter. they are both north of Frisco/Prosper. They are blowing up as well. Celina Is supposed to be bigger than Frisco when complete. I will never even consider moving back to Louisiana, and I love Louisiana.

I’ve been in Frisco for 7 years, it has none of the negatives you listed in your post. The negatives in your post are pretty huge.
The lack of state income tax is made up by large property taxes, most of which goes to the school district.
The summer heat can be a little much and the rain we had this week is the first substantial rain we’ve had in months that lead to drought conditions.
I’d you live north but work in Dallas proper like I do the commute can be a bit much sometimes but I used to live in DC and I laugh anytime folks complain about traffic.
Real estate here is a bit crazy, not as nuts as it was a year ago but still up.
I still have family in the BR area, the drive over ain’t that bad, and Southwest has a direct flight from DAL to MSY.

Another thing to consider is homeowners insurance. Ours was $12k/ yr in La and dropped to $500/ yr when we moved.

Moves out of Louisiana because he’s racist, complains about Indians in Texas
Hey man if you wanna move back the only Indian we have is Bobby jindal
