This board always delivers good or bad. So I come here looking for solid advice, not just from friends/family.

Wife (no pics) and I have been in BR for 17 years. No family here, but we both have great jobs. Kids (5th and 7th grade) are in private school and we live in a great hood.
I could transfer to the Frisco/Prosper area tomorrow for my job and it wouldn’t take my wife long to establish herself as well. I need the OT thoughts? Should I consider? Am I crazy for wanting to move?
We have truly great friends here that we consider family and we are very comfortable. My problem with BR are private schools are expensive as shite, crime is out of control, terrible leadership, and it’s always status quo here. I know the grass isn’t always greener, but sometimes it is.

Thoughts?

There is only 2-3 places that are acceptable to live in LA, BR is not one.

We love living in WEST Frisco and have been here for 10 years. It’s definitely more congested than it was then but we won’t move until our son graduates high school. Many moved to Prosper when Frisco started growing so quickly. Back then, you could get a larger lot for much less by moving from Frisco to Prosper if you were willing to take on the extra commute. Now, Prosper is pretty much an extension of Frisco.

You have a job that can be done elsewhere, you have no family holding you there, and you listed all the reasons to leave that dumpster fire.

What are you waiting on?

What do your kids think? That’s the only thing that could make me stay in your situation.

They’re both outgoing kids and would be fine after a month or so.

I’m not a fan of the typical Dallas vibe vs other Texas cities, but you’re comparing it to Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge is literally rankled as one of the worst places to live in the country.

In your situation, I would absolutely go. Do you want your kids becoming teenagers in Baton Rouge if there’s a better alternative?

Everyone I talk to who has left Louisiana has been much happier elsewhere. Recently some friends move to NE Kansas (KC metro) and love it.
I myself am exploring the idea of heading to Omaha now that my cancer treatment is over and I can head back to work in a few weeks. Gonna save back some cash and start looking for a place to land over there - Likely in the Fremont/Columbus/Blair area on the outskirts of Omaha.

If you are considering relocating I'd do it when the kids are still young. Gets harder when they get older, into HS etc

Good suggestion here. My parents moved from city to rural when I was in 7th grade, my sister in 11th. It was very hard on her to adapt to a new school and everything, really zapped her social life.
