Five years in. Invested $320,000.00. We will hit $25,000,000 in top line revenue this year and have a very aggressive growth model for the next seven years. Goal is to hit $100,000,000.00 seven years from now.

Didn't take a check for six months, but paid support staff well.

We run our company on no line of credit. My $320,000.00 investment now self funds our own personal $3 million line of credit that we run the company off of. The hard part is keeping enough money in the company to run it at tax time.

Good luck.Jump in or you'll be asking yourself what if...
Broke a non compete and got hit for breach of fiduciary duty… settled that one with mediation.

Fired a piece of crap admin. She sued. We responded. Mediator suggested we pay her or pay our lawyer for a trial that awarded no attorney’s fees when we win—we paid her.

Wage an hour claim. Get sued. Court system so screwed up when we finally get to share our side of the story, the people who sued us realized they were suing the wrong employer.

Plenty answers that were I do not recall and I do not know.

Own businesses for long enough and people will sue you. After the last one, our attorney said… “don’t be surprised, but right now, someone is probably trying to figure out how to sue you.”

Learned that you answer an attorney’s letter with an attorney’s letter and we have moved to very aggressive answers after the above. Good times.
Correct me if I’m wrong on this but deductions should include:

1. Management fee
2. Mortgage interest
3. Supplies for the property
4. Yard and cleaning fees
5. My work and travel to the property to do work

What am I missing and is the above correct?
Flying into Destin tomorrow morning to look at 20 or so houses through Sunday midday.

Things you don’t realize—hard to get in to see the homes. They are rented and you have to catch them on flip day. Interesting comments on what is included in the 20%.

Next—I have a buddy who has a four bedroom with a pool and in 2024, he rented is 315 nights. It’s at Inlet Beach, about two blocks from the beach.

If we can rent at 240-250 nights per year, with tax advantages and appreciation, it’s a good deal for us.

Time will tell.
I went to fourth grade with Gary Redus’ daughter. CSB, I know.
LSU basketball camp summer of 1993. Walk out of the field house and there is a dude laying on the ground with a Cadillac hood ornament next to him. Look past that guy, there’s Shaq.

Dude had stolen Shaq’s hood ornament.

For some reason I had a disposable camera in my bag that day. Got a photo with Shaq, but he bluntly said he wasn’t doing autographs. We were both young in 1993. Fast forward and he has a house less than 5 miles from me today.

Have met Marcus Spears several times. Bradie James. Dale Brown.

Jonas brothers came to my work and we had to let them in back doors and give them private access. Good dudes.

Ran into Michael Irvin at a bar in Dallas—dude was a dickhead.

Ran into Troy Aikman at a convenience store where we were both buying miller lite. Had a nice conversation and shook hands as we introduced ourselves. Looking back at it, he was probably wondering why the hell I thought he needed to know my name.

Ross Perot—we catered a huge event at his house and he was a very nice dude. Wanted corn on the cob and that was the one food item we ran out of. I can still hear him saying… “where’s the corn on the cob? I want some corn on the cob!”

David Allan Coe… got on his bus after a concert. He signed a $5 bill and I spent it a few minutes later. It was still worth $5.

Former Dallas Cowboy Randy White… good dude.

I could keep going. Bringing back some fun memories.
Anyone else see the blue and white Air Force 737 today? I wonder what they were doing! Touch and gos and on the ground for a good bit.
Texas high school football playoffs… 1995, my junior year.

I played tight end and always went out with our QB in pregame and we tossed the football back and forth. I sometimes wore receivers gloves and sometimes didn’t. Depending on humidity and hot/cold, sometimes they didn’t feel right. This game I wore them.

Made several good catches in first half. About 50 seconds to play in the first half, coach calls a play where the qb fakes fullback dive hits me with a pass going straight down the field. I’m wide open. No one in front of me.

What do I do? Stick out my left hand and try and catch a perfectly thrown ball with one hand. Ball hits my hand. I juggle it back to my body and then it hits the ground. We punt and go to halftime down six.

Keep in mind, my dad was booster club president, my parents and many of the coaching staff hung out away from football.

Make it all the way through halftime and I thought nothing would be said about my drop… I was wrong…

Coach comes streaking across the lockerroom and kicks my helmet across the floor and says… JoseVargas… for all I care you can take those receivers gloves and stick them up your arse!

I played both ways and ended up having a great game and we won, but I still flashback to that drop.

WTF was I thinking? One handed catch for no reason.
Actually ate at deanie’s today and it blew Drago’s away. On the hunt for more food now. Ate a dozen charbroiled.
Ended up at dragos. Enjoyable meal.
Staying at Caesars… something near there. Looking for great gumbo, read fried seafood platter.

Suggestions?
I’ve built several… my advice to you… build your house knowing that at some point it will have to be sold. No garage… good luck.
Lets say you had $1 million sitting in a checking account. You are very risk adverse. Good chance you could need that money to fund payroll in your company with huge growth. Growth can happen in the blink of an eye as the company is staffing.

What would you do with that $1 million? There is a chance that receivables stay in check and even with growth, you don't need to touch that money.

Texas Capital Bank is offering 4.5% up to a million. That number could go down, but it's a start.

Don't take into consideration kids, college, retirement, etc. This is $1 million that is sitting doing nothing, but could potentially be needed in say a two week period.

Thanks for the advice...
Condensate line is frozen—at least it was at my house. Hair dryer and some insulation on the outside pipe fixed it.
We own an executive transportation business and are able to take advantage of the depreciation... a couple of things:

1. on trade-ins, you do have to pay back what you haven't reached on the depreciation schedule

2. We are able to buy these because they are part of the fleet.

3. To anyone getting into the transportation/limo business... don't do it. Drivers don't wreck their own cars, they wreck ours.

My rule for firing someone—I’ve not done my job if they aren’t very clear on why they’re being fired. If I’m very clear, they expect it. I’ve not done my job if an employee is surprised when they get fired.
