There is only 2-3 places that are acceptable to live in LA, BR is not one.

North shore and Lafayette. Specifically South Lafayette but the rest of town isn’t so bad either aside from the north side obviously.

I'm partial to Tarrant County. Colleyville, Southlake, Grapevine, Keller, and the far north part of North Richland Hills (in Keller ISD) are awesome.

Ruston, Thibodaux, and Shreveport are all places I would live if I had to live in Louisiana… which may be a possibility one day sadly

Just wondering how many of the people who trash baton Rouge actually live(lived)there? Also, live where you're gonna be happiest dude. Not where a website of random people says you should. There's some really miserable sounding folks on this site. Not sure some of them are happy where they live now. Baton Rouge or not.
A lot of us have, we've just lived in other places to know that there's a thousand other places with a better standard of living. I've noticed a lot of people who are defensive about Baton Rouge or New Orleans are typically people who have never left.

We have truly great friends here that we consider family and we are very comfortable. My problem with BR are private schools are expensive as shite, crime is out of control, terrible leadership, and it’s always status quo here. I know the grass isn’t always greener, but sometimes it is.

Thoughts?
If you dont go, your kids will feel guilt if they move away. Get the hell out of there. Then, at the very least if they relocate as adults they can fly direct in and out to visit.

I wont take my own advice, but getting out of here is the best for every one.

I moved to Frisco in 1997 to raise a family and it was probably the best decision I have ever made. The infrastructure, schools, lack of crime, food, city leadership, etc.. are all top notch. The only two cons of living here are being far away from family and LSU sports.

We’ve been in Keller since 2009 and really like it but starting to feel the population pinch. Southlake is fantastic but you need to be able to at least a million on a house to get in. Also, you better drink the carroll dragon kool aid or you won’t fit in

I think proposer > Frisco at the moment. If you want smaller town feel with everything that Colin county has to offer try Celina, Melissa or Anna. All great communities where it still feels close knit

I would move to Dallas in a heartbeat over BR. I went to LSU, grew up in Lafayette, and live in Austin now.

I had the opportunity to leave in 2016, didn’t and kick my self in arse daily. As nice as “some” parts of BR/Nola are, there is no future in this crap area.

Move and don’t look back!

The grass is not only greener but get this…. They actually cut the grass and weed eat too. Sometimes I hear they even clean the streets, pick up litter, and act like they care about their city, and so don’t shite where they sleep.

And if the OP is worried about Collin County political climate, Ken Paxton lives in McKinney.
