I moved from BR to Fort Worth last year and could not be happier. I frequently go to North Dallas, specifically Addison and it is fantastic. Plus we need some more tiger blood up here and some anti-cowboys fans.

Southlake is awesome and their schools are incredible. House prices are absolutely bonkers, but if you can afford it.. That's where I would move in a heartbeat.

Moved to Frisco in 2018 and don't regret it one bit. Like some of the other posters have said, we rarely leave the Frisco/Colony/Plano (DNT/121) area as there's everything you need nearby. Even have a couple of "cajun" restaurants in Little Elm that aren't bad.

I find that you people that can’t be happy in Baton Rouge can’t be happy anywhere

But by all means move to Texas, the land of people who couldn’t cut it in Louisiana

That's not bad for Texas.

This was in 2016 on a small $220k house in an older part of Allen. If OP buys a 1500sqft+ house now he's likely to pay at least 350 to 400k and at least and probably 1200 to 1500 in property taxes if he buys somewhere like Frisco, Prosper, Allen, McKinney, or Plano.

I can't imagine this is a serious statement.

If it is, the people who say shite like this have been stuck in that mudhole forever. A change of location won't solve your problems, but it does give you a different perspective from which you can attack.

I live in Southlake. We love it. Damn strong public schools and a great surrounding area. The Southlake restaurant scene is overrated so we hit go to Grapevine a lot (close by). Keller is nice too to the west.

“my only thing is....when you say your wife will have to start over...what do you mean by that? like are you losing 150k a year job or what?”

She makes north of that here. She would find a job easy I’d assume, but probably would take a small pay cut.

then yea...you should be making plenty to more than enjoy life in BR. im in same situation and no way i would give up that kind of stability for somewhere else.

realize that you are already a top 5% in the country and close to top 2% in the state....i think you are fine.

is north texas better quality of life overall...yea but with your income level, you really dont have to worry much about crime, you can afford awesome housing, can afford awesome schools.

i mean im sure you would love it....but at that income level and having to take a step back at a place where cost of living is more....yea grass isnt greaner in that case.

engineering usually does for 1. plenty of others though involved with the plants but also if someone is established....really hard to get same level at new company sometimes in some industries.

for example its very doubtful i could make what i make in N Tx. houston area...sure but not up there more than likely. I know for a fact it if my wife gave up here business and started over...would take 5-7 years to get to where she is now, maybe more.

I live in north Dallas. Plano and Frisco are very very nice with great restaurants. about 20 minutes from uptown Dallas

Southlake is the nice rich area - very expensive but nice nonetheless. It's about 35-40 minutes from uptown Dallas FYI

I'm not sure of your financial situation but i'd go with Plano/Frisco unless you're ballin out.

Obvious troll, but funny considering the Holy Grail Steakhouse in Louisiana is Ruth's Chris restaurant chain.

normally i would 100% disagree with this statement. If you like clean, nice(although cookie cutter) towns with great schools than the dallas and houston burbs are awesome. personally i love them and lot more to eat than fricking chain restruants

but in the OPs case....he and his wife have a really high income apparently. if you are top 2% in Louisiana and arent happy...than it may not be the location.

with that said...i understand his sentiment too. because people in general tend to not move far from where they grew up or they do and come back. I hope my kids atleast go off and explore at a minimum and honestly i hope my kids realize there is a lot more out there than just south lousiana.

people make fun of the burbs and all of that shite but if you are raising a family the burbs in NTX and Houston have pretty much everything you could ask for. I have a buddy who is 40 and single, he loves to make fun of his friends that move out of inner loop houston to the burbs because he says he never sees them anymore. What he and many others dont understand is once you have kids....you arent looking for most of the bullshite that is in the city, just that is be a decent drive if you do decide to pertake 10-15 times per year.
