The Advocate

Ohh Look BR residents. In the wake of the new library downtown falling down, they want to build another one!

quote:

The council approved a deal to buy the land from Engquist-Rouzan Commercial Development
quote:

Council members mostly said they saw having a new library there as an asset to the community.

quote:

But several residents who spoke against the deal said they thought land could be acquired more cheaply elsewhere. They also objected to the city-parish being required to pay $20,000 annually in homeowners association fees to be located inside the traditional neighborhood development.
and they will have to pay 20k per year in hoa fees! oohh but it isnt a fixed 20k
quote:

The annual HOA fee will not remain fixed at $20,000 but will increase by certain percentages every three years based on fluctuations in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' consumer price index, the agreement states.

Spinoza been greasing palms for this deal.

Maybe people will remember this when an EBRPL tax is up for renewal or introduction.

I live around there and don’t think this area needs one but libraries have transitioned to a more community center format.. they have function The space could’ve been used for better purposes within Rouzan but I can’t blame the new developers for recouping costs and future revenue for the HOA.

and does southdowns need a community center?

Community centers are for areas that dont act like a community and is a feel good area to try and give the hoodlums something to do.

are you joking? in modern times there is no reason for a library. Now, like i said in the downtown library thread, If they were building a new innovative online library where they house the servers etc. than sure build a library. but paper back books are space wasters.

unless they're intending to use the same design team, this has no bearing on the necessity for other libraries

Yikes, with technology and access to info today a library of that magnitude is criminal if you ask me.
